SBI reports that Tighe Dombrowski has been invited to take part in an RBNY mini-camp. Not sure if this is a training stint or a trial though.
He's been at the non-roster invitees Red Bull camp for days and impressed enough to get called to the entire team's camp in Carson, I think. I'd say it's a trial.
Tighe finished up his contract with IK Sirus, was offered a decent deal to stay but expressed an interest to give MLS another shot. If people recall Tighe was with San Jose in 2004 and 2005 as a develoment player. In 2005 his spot on the team was palced in jeopardy because SJ acquired Rico Clark and just drafted the Herman Winner O'Rourke at the D-mid position. One of his big fans from the 2004 season in SJ was none other than Jeff Agoos, and apparently when he heard Tighe was considering returning to try to sign in MLS he invited Tighe to mini camp. He did very well and impressed Osorio enough, probably also with Agoos's insistance, that he was offered a spot in the full pre-season camp to compete for a roster spot. He is at the age now where he must ger a senior roster spot to sign with the league, fortunatly for him his two main rivals for a spot are our two worst players Chris Leitch and Goldthwaite.
good for tighe. he is a really nice guy and a very dedicated player. i'd be excited for him if he can latch on with an mls club. one thing that should help him is his ability to play so many positions effectively though i do believe he prefers to play at center mid.
I can't see Tighe playing as a center mid at the MLS level. I see him finding a way to stick around as a back or d-mid possibly.
i don't think he can start at d-mid though that is certainly the position he wants to play and that he is most suited for. he is a good passer of the ball, sees the field well and has a good work rate. but i don't see him playing much there in mls. i think he could start at outside back if it wasn't for his lack of pace. i think he'd get exposed too much against quicker outside mids. he could be decent cover at multiple positions for little cap space as well as being a good practice guy given his good attitude.
