he’s definitely worth a flyer by some of these teams. Curious to see if he can raise his level one or two more notches. I feel like he could definitely be on a lower prem / upper champs team. Wondering if he has anything beyond that.
It seems when I doubt a player things work out well for them, so I continue to talismanically think EPL is bit above Wright's zone - so expect him to start to NUFC soon.
The day I watched Rashford scored two goals in Cup game, suddenly realized Wright is a poor man’s version of him.
I’m not a Haji believer at this level. I will say that Brentford is one of the most analytically driven clubs in the sport right now. They’ve been incredibly successful with FC Midtjylland and run the same playbook with Brentford. Would be intrigued if they actually offer 10M for him. Anyone have advanced numbers for him for this season and last? https://breakingthelines.com/data-analysis/how-data-analysis-won-fc-midtjylland-a-title-and-more/
https://prosoccerwire.usatoday.com/...ansfer-antalyaspor-in-talks-with-eight-clubs/ Antalyaspor claims its in talks with eight clubs over Haji Wright transfer “We are in talks with eight clubs about Haji Wright,” Celik told the media on Friday. “Some of them are advanced. Our president will make the right decision. Haji’s situation will become clear in 10 days.”
Since he’s started every game for them as of late, I’m guessing a move is imminent and should be announced soon.
Fenerbahce has apparently made an offer: https://www.sporx.com/fenerbahce-nin-haji-wright-teklifi-ortaya-ciktiSXGLQ63728SXQ?sira=8
Turkish media was reporting last week that he'll be out 2-3 weeks with a back injury. Check the bottom of this article. Of course that doesn't answer the question of whether it's an injury or "injury", but I guess we'll see depending on how quickly he suits up for his new team (assuming a transfer is indeed imminent).
I wonder if any of those big Turkish clubs could pay him something close to what Crystal Palace is offering. In a way it would be a shame to leave Turkey, since he seems settled there and knows he can score in that league.
eh I think he should keep trying to get to a higher level....the "window" is open now for him to move to a higher league..... he can always go back to turkey or mls if EPL or Serie A dont work out....but if he scores there it would be massive for him and hs career
Today I watched Isak scored against Fulham almost last minute, and I think that is kind of goal Wright has no problem to score in EPL.
Very true. OTOH, if he goes to Fenerbache he's guaranteed UEFA ball every season and there's a decent chance of CL ball. Do well there and better teams than Palace will come calling. Let's just say that it's the kind of dilemma that we'd all love to have.
I actually think the move to a top Turkish team from Antalyaspor would be very difficult for Haji. The pressure is probably immense compared to the midtable team he is on now, and living in Istanbul is very different than Antalya (I would guess).
I enjoy living vicariously through these guys' career decisions. I'd say that at his age, he should take the EPL money if it's on offer. Even if he goes to Fenerbahce and has a couple good years, then he'd be 26-27, and there's probably fewer teams in the big leagues who will pay for someone that age, unless they're really good. Like others have said, I don't think he's good enough for the EPL, but maybe he'll surprise us, and if he not, he can still cash those EPL checks for a few years and move back down to someplace like Turkey or MLS.
He is following up what Pefok did: 1. Didn’t pan out at big 5 (Haji in Bundesliga and Jordan in Ligue 1) 2. Went down a step (Haji in Sweden (?) and Turkey, Jordan in Swiss) 3. Became the leading scorers (Haji is #2, Jordan is #1) 4. Try the big 5 in a mid table team (Jordan in Union Berlin, Haji in whatever EPL club) 5. Then move to big club ___ my wishful thinking
The WC boost is very real for forwards (when accompanied by club results). I can see why Pepi is still upset by not making it.
