    ...a bit of background...

i work in some plush office building a stone's throw from Old Trafford. whenever i get bored at work i look outside and there it is staring at me. needless to say, about 90% of people at work are Man Utd fans. last friday i was having a drink with some of the lads and we started talking about the last game of the season. to cut a long story short, i agreed to bet two of them £10 each that we wouldn't lose to them by three clear goals. admittedly, i was drunk at the time, but even in the cold light of day i think it was a good bet.

anyway, lately, i've been thinking about putting a little counter-bet on at the bookies. say if i went in and asked to bet on man utd winning by three clear goals, i reckon i'd be looking at 6-1+ odds. i could put a fiver on and no matter what the outcome, i'd be laughing money-wise.

i visited a bookies today after work and asked about it; they said they couldn't give me any odds til next week. in a way i was glad...there's something in the back of my head that says betting against everton is wrong.

    what do you reckon?
    ideas/ suggestions/ advice/ insults?

Understand wanting to make a little money, but don't you find it hard betting against your club? ;)

I'd do it if it was Spurs or Metrostars. Money is money and you will be getting it either way so I think it's perfectly fine. If you were only placing the bet against Everton that would be another story.

i considered doing something similar at the start of the season; betting £10 on sunderland to go down. that way if we did i would get money as a consolation, and if we didn't i wouldn't mind. of course i didn't do that, so here i am, without any dosh to ease my woes.
