That was a link to a movie site? What does it have to do with English football fans?

Anyway: (1) most Americans (80%) don't know much if anything about soccer at all, so English soccer fans and Atlantis are equally relevant. (2) the next largest grouping only hears of violence and the "myths" of hooligan behavior, and thus use them as a butt of jokes in crap magazines like Maxim.(15%) (3) Those that do know about soccer and English fans, use most of them as the butts of jokes too :p.

E&P, you're a cool guy! Cool as a fricken cucumber and I'd hang out with you anytime. I also don't have a bad opinion of all English fans... But let's just say that I have had some bad experiences with the attitudes of some English fans. Scottish and Irish fans always seem to be the friendliest to me. That's just my personal experience though. There are bad apples in every lot.

Cheers NorCal. The Irish and Scottish fans are loved worldwide, and noted for there friendliness and humour.
Shouldn't tar us all with the same brush. I have never been involved in football violence myself. "rucks" are now arranged away from the stadiums, and with the banning orders inplace English fans watching England abroad are generally genuine.

Your posts don't trouble me I just think you're ********ing boring. Going on about "rucks" and "hooligans" and whatever else. Asking people to pick a team for you to support.

Does your bit of "verbal" with this Englishman constitute a "ruck" on these message boards? You are quite the message board "hooligan."

Or are you an "anorak" or a "scarfer?"

Asking people to pick a team for him to support, OK, pretty foolish, I'll give you that much. Fair enough?

English fans are tarred with the same brush as the very small hooligan minority. Thats what they are seen as here in Wales and I guess throughou the World.

The scenes that marred Euro 96 and Euro 2000 will be the reason why the police clamp down harder on English fans than any other lot.

Ok boring, and foolish have been branded, for me chatting on here like everybody else, your opinion has been read.

Boring, i'm talking about something that I love, football with like minded people, I'm new to this message board and decided to post with any topic that was relevant, and there wasn't a shortage in replies, you found this boring ok tough.

Foolish, why foolish? because I happened to enjoy watching some MLS on the TV and wanted to know abit more about it, and decided to to that by asking the people that watch it. Ok I asked for some advice on what were the better MLS teams, if this makes me foolish and boring, coming form two people that I have read their quality of posts then so be it.

I'll continue to post and read, if you find it boring and foolish, please, don't reply start your own, it worries me not

I'll second that, I get married in Cyprus in 24 days, and this week I'm going Dublin on my "stag do" with friends first time to Ireland, but everybody coments that for a city the friendliness on the people is second to non.

It's a shame they haven't got a more consistant team.

    congratulations my man!

my first experience with irish fans was on july 4th at WC94 - even though HOLLAND beat ireland 2-0, the long green faces at the stadium were gone by that evening - we spent most of the night in one of those piano bars where people make requests and the piano guy plays it and everybody sings - i swear the irish fans are the greatest drunk singers on the planet - they knew the words to everything! i requested chicago's "saturday in the park" and they belted out a stirring rendition - naturally the fake italian song portion was a hoot

Man, why don't you take your attitude elsewhere? I'm tired of people that come on here and have nothing better to do than have a smart mouth and a big chip on their shoulder.

Oh I'm not trying to paint all English with the same brush, just telling a little of my personal experience. Like I said, you're a cool and friendly. And I'm sure you're not involved in football violence. I've had good experiences with English fans too. I dated a girl who was a Birmingham supporter for a very short period. :D

You're from Stoke and have a fixation with hooliganism?
    How odd

You from Stoke? If so get out as early as possible. I lived there for a bit and met all the hooligans Stoke has to offer. Live there for any length of time and the place eats into you.

Two corrections for you. Firstly where on earth have you got the idea that I have a fixation with hooligans, didn't know that you knew me? oh you don't. I was actually just chatting about football related issues in the USA and was wondering if they had a problem like England not Stoke.

Secondly I have lived here for 28 years and never once met any hooligans, I don't move in those circles, I have a young family and they watch Stoke city with me.

As for moving away from Stoke, never it's a great city with wonderful FRIENDLY people.

But thanks to you aswell as Eggy two people with poor attitudes that really i didn't come on here to find.

You're 28 years old and you need it pointing out to you that the US doesn't have the soccer-related hooliganism that we do?
    No, they don't.
And you do realise that England hooligans are made up of different teams' hooligans. The fact that Stoke are among a number of clubs who seem to provide the lunatic element with membership - means that indeed the problems at Stoke (et al) are a problem with regards to English hooliganism.
The reasons why they don't have all been said

You go to watch Stoke yet have never seen the hooligan element? How? My misfortune was to work in a pub they liked to frequent but I don't see how you could have missed it.
    It's Burberry caps a go-go there.

Which part of 'Stoke'? One of the nicer of the five(or is it 6 now?) towns? They all seemed pretty grim to me.
Hanley on a Friday night is not friendly.

    Oh well, life's a bitch.
Dunno what his reason was but you coming from Stoke and loitering on the hooligan question struck a chord with me.
