It is a tough call, but his total disregard for his people and his thumbing his nose at the rules of the geneva convention make me wonder...
Am I missing something? I thought the US already decided that Saddam's disregard for his people and thumbing his nose at the UN were reasons to go to war.
So does the way he fights a war justify going to war against him? Strange question. As for does the way he treats his own people justify going to war? No, it doesn't.
YITBOS...so if the way Saddam conducts warfare is reason to go to war with him, then doesn't it logically follow that Bush is a war criminal for going to war without a valid reason? (Unless Bush has a time machine.) Because at that time, Saddam hadn't done any of that stuff yet.
The justification I was searching for? I was against the war and still believe that we shouldn't have gone. I support the military in what they are doing though, I want them to get it done with as soon as possible and get the hell out of there. There's no stopping the war now. That pic looks like you were trying to say shame on the Brits.
No I don't think so. The US would be using them just as easily if they could get away with it. Just like any other country in the world.
Yes, also even if I read (after) that those were alleged looters and i don't really like looters that much... This soldier seems to be showing his trophy.
Superdave, you're correct. I should have shown a picture that was pre-war and then said 'Yes'. I just got done looking at that picture on a different board and it was the first one to come to mind in order to demonstrate the regime's cruelty.
Like who? Those Kurds that where allied with his enemy Iran? The ones he killed with weapons acquired from the west, used with the consent of the west? Or the people who tried to fight him one way or the other? 'Your own' is used a bit to easy. This is the way dictators stay in power. He's a murderer and a big and terrible one... but he's not the first and he won't be the last.
Re: Re: Does SADDAMS treatment and tactics alone justify a war? Sad how you could even make the comparison... I guess politics is ALL that matters..
Re: Re: Re: Does SADDAMS treatment and tactics alone justify a war? the truth is that the only reason Dan and Joe and others would wage war is to ensure that the US adheres to the Kyoto treaty or to subject the US to the rule of the UN. Anything else in their mind is US hypocrisy and immorality and illegality.
If the Bush Corporation really wanted to go to war for a regime's treatment and tactics, then he would have gone after China. Geneva Convetion? read my sig...
