First off, who is Simon Borg? Assuming that you actually were a legit journalist and weren't screwing around and wasting this guy's time, I think he would probably get back to you after the season. In your fake letter you say that you hadn't heard back from him. Did you have reason to expect to hear back? Did you call and leave a message, or drop him an e-mail? Or did you just think that he was going to invite you to lunch because you sent him a few copies of your student paper? My guess is that the guy probably gets a ton of requests like yours, and unless you asked for something specific he had no pressing reason to seek you out. My overall take is that your e-mail doesn't seem like the most professional thing I've ever read, but I'd get back to you when I had time - especially if I'd worked with you before.
