    Dear Simon Borg,

My name is (insert real name here) and I am the Sports editor over at the Knight News, the official student newspaper of Queens College. Several months ago I had conducted a telephone interview with you for the paper. I had sent you several copies of the paper with the article which was a preview of the 2003 MLS campaign. Unfortunately I had not heard back from you, but I assume you were very busy with the league. As the season winds down and after MLS Cup 2003 is fought for, I was hoping to be able to conduct another interview with you for a MLS 2003 season in review article for the paper. In addition I was happy to note that both MLS and the USSF will be represented at the 2004
Sports Summit at the Marriot Marquis in Time Square on January 8th and 9th. If and when you get this message please do not hesitate to email
or call me at XXXXXXXXX. Thank you very much for your time and have a wonderful day.

    Sincerely,
    (insert real name here)

Would this get a reply from Simon Borg of MLS?

First off, who is Simon Borg?

Assuming that you actually were a legit journalist and weren't screwing around and wasting this guy's time, I think he would probably get back to you after the season.

In your fake letter you say that you hadn't heard back from him. Did you have reason to expect to hear back? Did you call and leave a message, or drop him an e-mail? Or did you just think that he was going to invite you to lunch because you sent him a few copies of your student paper? My guess is that the guy probably gets a ton of requests like yours, and unless you asked for something specific he had no pressing reason to seek you out.

My overall take is that your e-mail doesn't seem like the most professional thing I've ever read, but I'd get back to you when I had time - especially if I'd worked with you before.
