Simple question, do you think that money from illegal drus goes to support terrorism. There is evidence to support that terrorist affiliated groups deal in drugs. But, there is no evidence to show a direct link. Then there is the opinion that drugs might fund terrorism, but it wouldn't be that way if they were legal.

I know this is an issue that strikes close to home for me, so I wonder if y'all have any opinions on this issue.

Now I'm no accountant, but this seems pretty clear cut.

Especially this part ".....Afghanistan produced 3,400 tonnes last year, up from 185 tonnes in 2001. "

Good thing we put in a freindly gov't!

Also consider terrorism in other parts of the world. In Colombia, for example, it's pretty clear that sales from drugs on out streets help fuel drug cartels and rebel groups who frequently utilize terrorism as tools. It's not the kind of terrorist groups we're focusing on here, muslims extremists, but terrorist groups nontheless.

There was a story at the weekend on BBC Scotland saying that the IRA and the Loyalists were putting their emnities aside in the goal of making money out of the Scottish crime scene.

So the answer to your fundamental question is obviously yes.

Drugs obviously fund terrorism, but the only reason this is possible is because governments make it profitable for dealers by making it illegal. I would argue that governement indirectly funds terrorist.

Of course drugs fund terrorism. Every time you smoke a joint, a terrorist kills an innocent baby. Don't you know that?

I ought to get a bumper sticker saying "Drugs don't fund terrorism, our allies fund terrorism" superimposed over an outline of Saudi Arabia just to see how many people would think it's about the French.

I do recall that in Lebanon, and in the south area of it, Hezbollah terror group uses drugs to fund its terror!!!!!

They got feilds of opium poppies growing, and lots of hashish, coke and heroine!

They get people to export mainly to France, where the money comes big and then sends it back to the group!! Iran might fund them, but then again, mo money, mo business ;)
