Dallas' move to a highschool turf field should shut the door on his move to the Burn.

    Seems logical to me.

Or the league may decide that he now MUST end up in Dallas to help reestablish the team in it's new plastic home. You just never know with this league.

Why. He's probably played on something like it before, albeit not in real games:

"Dutch-based artificial turf manufacturer Desso, has installed its DD SoccerGrass pitches at Dutch professional clubs, Feyenoord, NEC Nijmegen, NAC Breda, RKC Waalwijk and Willem II."

well, bri, i wouldn't totally dismiss it as an issue... it's not just the surface, but the high school stadium atmosphere as well.

heck, no booze! let's hope his wife likes to tip back a few while watching her man ply his trade.

I'm not dismissing it, just pointing out that the thought of playing on turf doesn't automatically change things.

The high school part, maybe. But something else I want to bring up is that maybe Earnie Stewart isn't the kind of guy who has knee-jerk reactions. Maybe the kind of stadium he plays in isn't the most important thing in the world to him.

All in all, I think the venue the Burn/United plays in will be one factor, not the only factor.

But the booze part - hell, that's a frigging factor!

The turf, I believe, won't affect his decision as much as the football lines will.

I grew up in the DC area and now live in the DFW area. It may be a high school stadium, but these stadiums are not like the one's back east. I don't think the stadium will figure into the equation. Having said that, as much as I want Earnie for the Burn, it would just cost too much. He is a classy guy who really will help Tino develop.

No kidding about the stadiums. I went to school down in Corpus Christi for a while and we had a stadium that could have rivaled Virginia Tech's old stadium.

I have lived in Hawaii, Oklahoma, Texas, Maryland, Indiana, and California.

The high school football stadiums in Texas are larger than some NCAA Division I A football stadiums. The local high school team near Fort Hood sold season tickets and had 2 sides of the stadium, one with bleachers, and another with reserved seating. I would guess that it sat around 8,000.

Even with that said, I still have to think that Earnie would rather play in RFK.

I found comments on a Texas football message board where someone complained about Dragon Stadium.

    "Too small" they said.

I would not expect this to play a major part in his decision. I think it is more important where he and his wife feel comfortable in the living situation.

Really? Last time I saw him play at RFK he victimized a goalpost after missing a PK :)

Can someone get some green paint and cover up those pointy ball lines?
Looks really nice for a high school stadium.
Looks nice for a small college stadium.
They sure love their high school pointy ball in Texas.

Soccer America said it is being looked into cost-wise. They really want to do it, but need to know how much it will cost.

Just when you thought you were safe from season ending injuries, and endless fleets of mini-vans, it has returned.

    THE SON OF NAPERVILLE!!!

It's back, and this time, its suburban.

Reminds me of the episode of King Of The Hill when Hank wanted Bobby to play pointy-ball, but Bobby opted for soccer instead...

The stadium is a little smaller than I was expecting, but I'm sure that they'll bring in some smaller bleachers for goal line seating and along down near the corners (i.e. like minor league baseball).

Those lines have to go. If they do choose that stadium, I'd almost ask who ever does the TV schedule to only show Dallas' away games. Don't televise that crap. It won't help the league at all. No matter how much they save money. I'd watch United play there, but my guess is that people who didn't know about MLS would probably think it was some highschool or college match and not a professional soccer match. Then when they learn it was professional, MLS would lose legitimacy.

What type of professional league allows there teams to play in places like that... during the regular season.

Dallas is a pretty huge, spread out place, so it ranges from as close as 20 minutes from the western suburbs to as far as an hour and a half from others. It's almost in Ft. Worth.

Well, I don't mind if they "give" us a draw everytime we show up...We keep losing down there in Texas and I for one find that to be very unsporting of them! They should do the honorable thing and let us score to tie the game and then we can all go home happy!

    ;)
