Joel Spencer, John Spencer, Jason Thompson, Saul Wolf, Lawrence Smalls and coach Demian Brown represented the Anteaters on the California Select Team. The California State Select Team won the National Championship in Ft. Lauderdale in January and are coached by George Kuntz, Chris Volk, and Demian Brown of the UC Irvine staff. UCI Soccer " The first scoring in the game was by Alejandro Moreno of the Galaxy who opened the scoring against Keeper Matt Hall (SDSU). Jason Boyce (Washington) tied the scoring in the second half and also hit the post in the first half to keep the game lively. "This is great experience for these young players. The opportunity to play a team the level of the Galaxy is paramount for their development. There are many quality current and former players who have hopes of playing at the next level and games like this provide them a measure of where they are and need to be to play at the professional level," coach George Kuntz said following the game.
Well "Well whatever this scrimmage was proably wasn't important for the public to know" Some of the players were young socal players and some players who have played or are currently playing for Blue Star, some had played for UCI and UCLA. If people had known, maybe more of them would have gone, some of these guys will be playing in the MLS soon and if the final score was 1-1, I guess they deserved to be there.
those UCI players were my coach Just wanted to point out: Joel Spencer, John Spencer, Jason Thompson...those three players mentioned in the article all coached my high school team. Our HS is right next to UCI, and in they coached our team during their own offseason. All three are very quality players and great people. Just wanted to point it out. GO GALAXY!
Where did you play So who did you play for Underground? University H.S. ? I used to coach at Northwood H.S., we used to have some epic games with Uni, what year did you play? Those players you mentioned are top notch players, I hope to see them playing at higher level soon. I play in a league on the weekend with alot of good young talent, Blue Star has a team and a reserve squad in the league but I'm not sure how many of the main Blue Star players are on the squad. Klinsman plays on the Blue Star squad in our league, but it would be interesting to know how many guys are in the system.
