who were S.Korea playing? That was pretty impressive stuff after they scored the first one. Should've put a lot of those oppurtunities away though.
That game could have gotten much uglier for the Scots if Korea knew how to finish. It could have been Germany-Saudi Arabia.
Looking back, I would say: DAMN we did had a GREAT TEAM... Look how fast and strong our players are in that video.
it's funny because about 30 minutes ago I was watching this clip which I downloaded quite a while ago. This game had a lot of meaning. 1. Note that Jung-hwan Ahn who scored 2 goals in that game doesn't look that happy. He's been the forever-sub under Hiddink or if worse, not-get-picked-at-the-team-at-the-first-place for a long time. It was his "rebellion" to Hiddink to prove himself. Hiddink really started to awknowledge Ahn's ability. The "other" Jung-hwan, Jung-hwan Yoon, also showed something by scoring the 3rd goal as well as showing his sensual pass to Ahn for the 4th goal. However, it's a pitty that Hiddink didn't use this best-passer-in-Korea during the WC. Yoon lacked what Hiddink emphasized; endurance and versatility. 2. It was when the team really started to function as Hiddink intended. Overall, Korea's 2-0 win over Finland is the one followed by the 0-0 against Turkey, but this game really showed what Hiddink's team was made of. 3. It was the one which Chunsu Lee also got some recognition from Hiddink. 4. It was the game which ignited the interest from the Korean fans. After this game, Korea had a 1-1 tie against England, and then a fun give-receive 2-3 game against against France. (Zidane was injured in this game simply because he was outrun by the Koreans)
too bad we had the same result with moldiv.. or whatever that place was... number 20 against number 150 something... china and japan said Coach Park didnt want too much so korean team wouldnt show much strategy.. but i think that WAS all the Strategy...
i thought they did... against maldiv... not without respect.. without strategy we still shoulda put away the game 8-0
then again lets not poo poo the Maldives either. I think they tied China 1-1 in World Cup qualifiers (can someone verify this? - it could have been a 1-0 CHina win). They also did very well against Iran. There's an example of a country that got its act together after that 17-0 slaughtering.
Impressive stuff from Korea. Once they elevate their finishing skills to the level of their pace they will be unstoppable. It looked like the offside call against Korea was bogus, a premonition of things to come at the World Cup.
Is that the same ref from the third place game? I remember his everlasting smile and his constant pointing at the whistle.
Very good stuff (both in terms of quality of play in South Korea and in Mulitmedia resources!?!?) I will say in caveat, however,....highlights can be made to tell any story. Only watching the full 90 could we really tell how well each team played (surely the Scots and Tartan Army would like to think so!?!?!?).
