Didn't we get Herron to go up the middle?

Hopefully this signifies the use of 2 forwards as opposed to the 4-5-1 we currently play.

I'm a little nervous. I don't know what we would give up for him other than our DP slot. Ruiz would be a help, but I'm not sure if he's worth a DP.

Szetela and a second or third round draft pick.

    Re: Do You Smell Fish?

Dallas can't possibly want our DP spot, unless it's to turn around and trade it. I have always thought the BS common wisdom which said "Hunt SPorts will never shell out for a DP" is utter nonense from morons, but I would have a hard time believeing that they'd pony up for two for the same team.

And there's a real limit on how much they can ask for a guy they're not even using that much anywa. I'm always astounded when teams claim a guy they don't think is good enough for regular time is worth a king's ransom; Hey, guy, YOU are the ones discounting his abilities, not us.

Bottom line, Ruiz went from LA to Dallas for a top allocation. Well, guess what the Crew is now holding?

You could put it to lots worse use, and it would be impossible for Dallas to claim he's worth MORE than what they paid for him. Plus, sending it to Dullass - and thus out of our dvision - would suit me much better than sending it to NY or Shitcago.

And an allocation is a long ways from a DP slot. A LONG ways. So when FUlham gets done blowing their season and McBride is released, let's take a look at McBride-Schelotto-Ruiz-Herron. And watch the Revs crap their pants. We'd be one good midfielder away from being the best team in MLS history.

If one was a hard-core cynic, he'd suggest that we'd have to enlarge the CCS pitch to make room for all the flopping out there with Guille and Ruiz on the team. Velma Ave would look like the deck of a tuna boat.

And honestly folks, Schelotto-Ruiz-Herron would instantly qualify as the best forward combo in MLS. What would, say, DC's defense do against that? Let alone Toronto's? How could we not even consider it?

I want to win so bad that if Heinrich Himmler could come back from the dead and bag 12 goals for us, I'd welcome him with open arms.

Aren't the allocations gone? I mean signing Guille under the cap and all was due to spending the allocation money was it not?

I got used to Gori, rose for Razov (the one time he played), but no way will I cheer for Carlos. Besides it's so much fun to see him cry after we take the ball from him. Wouldn't mind dishing Szetela though.

Guille-Fishy-Macho Man front line? I'd buy that for five dollars.

I know it's nothing more than a dream right now, but a forward tandem of Ruiz, McBride, and Schelotto? It doesn't even get that good on FIFA07.

    Beat me to that.
I hate Ruiz, but I'd rather have him on our side of the pitch.

Dead Nazi's, oh Bill, you shouldn't have.

I'm not really sure what makes anyone think that Szetela has any trade value at all.

This would be an amazing opportunity for the Crew. You guys would become instant contenders, FC Dallas without Ruiz misses the playoffs for the next several seasons.

Dallas could use a defender. I wonder how high Sigi is on Chad Marshall?

    Re: Do You Smell Fish?

this could be really good....everyone has talked about improving the atmosphere at crew stadium and getting a possible tandem of guille-ruiz-herron would certainly help with goals scored....if ruiz can be acquired using only allocations and not the DP, i say go for! it seems to be a logical move as we have no true proven striker to put away the goals.

    Re: Do You Smell Fish?

On my sainted grandmothers grave I did not know Himmler played soccer. Goebbels yeah, sure, but Himmler never.

    And I like fish tacos.

Retiz would be an interesting pick-up. Considering he seems to have fallen out with the new coach and is not playing in Dallas there is no way we give up the DP for him. You are talking about a team that has sat on allocations for so long that you would have thought they were vintage wine. They aren't likely to waste their DP.

I don't know who or what we would give up for him but considering the salary we would be picking up with him I'm thinking not much more than a partial and a fringe to occasional player or one of our young "potential" players and some draft consideration.

But it would be a very interesting pick-up with Herron and Guille combined with what Virtuoso has shown he can do from the left wing and with the blinding speed we have available on the right wing.

Now I am really interested in what the conversations between Sigi and Guille included. Was it something to the effect of 'this is what we have now but if you come we will make every effort to go out and get more players to play around you'. Or is this just a situation of a quality player becoming available at a unique and fortuitous time.

It's turning out to be interesting times here in Crewville.

You have a fish taco shop and you live in Denver...bastard. The only fish tacos I've been able to locate in C'bus are at the Baja Fresh's. Which of course means that I haven't found fish tacos in C'bus.

    Re: Do You Smell Fish?

Ruiz was never one of my favorite players and he's in a slump right now, but if he's fit, he'll score goals. He's talented and skilled. He also plays in the seams of the rules. Sometimes he steps over the line, but say what you will, he plays to win. If he were here and Herron was to play half the season, red cards and injuries don't you know, could be an awesome pairing. I could see Garey blossoming, too. Of course it's a lot of maybes.

    Re: Do You Smell Fish?

But remember that he was scoring goals like crazy in LA before Sigi left, so Sigi must know something about how to tame and control this animal, or fish.....

Man, I'm a New York Mets fan on the baseball side, so, sadly, I'm already used to rooting for your former arch enemy (Tommy Glavine comes to mind).

Trust me, you forget all about it when the team wins. I say bring him in.

of course there is a fish taco shop here. denver is amazing.

i can also get a fish burrito at illegal petes, which is on the same block (like qdoba and chipotle, the other two big burrito chains with denver roots, IPs does huge burritos, but unlike qdoba and chipotle, they dont suck)

but yeah, youd probably cry if you saw the bar/restaurant scene out here. :D
