I was wondering if you guys or the pros are using any extra supplements? If so......which ones....? For example: creatine/mulitvitamins and so on.... You tell me....I have no clue....
Supplements are not necessary unless prescribed. Any supplements that increases your performance is bad.
Yeah i have a lot of Supplement and Vitamins because i am underweight, you can use creatine though and all the other muscle defining powders i used a lot of them when i used to box and they do kinda help i suppose.
He's talking about drugs i think, performance enhancing drugs and such like nandrolone and steroids rather than supplements
The original post has nothing to do with illegal performance enhancing drugs though so i'm not really sure why they have been brought up.I think he means either muscle building supplements for gym work or health suppliments such as cromium etc
a couple of guys that i know who play soccer used protein and creatine over a two month span. they increased the size of their muscles and their overall power but when it came to soccer they were too slow and had gained way too much weight. all i am saying is that i lift regularly but i just get my protein from eating chicken and tuna (has a lot of protein in it) and not wasting $40 dollars at GNC for a can of it. if you play competitive soccer, it isnt really wise to gain weight cuz it can make you slower. i have never taken creatine but i just learned from what i saw with the guys who took it. just lift and stay natural. you'll save money and save yourself the trouble of worrying about what the pros use. they have professional guidance. just have good nutrition. good luck.
Some of them (not sure which ones but ill find out) just improve muscle definition and make the muscles stronger rather than improving the thickness and girth of the muscle, because that will be done naturally by lifting, and these supplements aren't at all illegal in football but im not sure about athletics or anything like that.
Creatine adds a lot of water weight to your muscles which is not very helpful for soccer and sports where you run a lot. I use 100% whey Protein but that is because I work out pretty hard about 4 days a week. It doesn't really help you unless you are lifting weights and even then all that stuff does is give you protein, the same as eating like chicken or something. Best thing for soccer is to drink a lot of water.
make sure you guys are not lifting weights until atleast 18. all of the professional players i know have told me not to lift waits until i am full-grown.
Plenty of pros take supplements i.e. vitamins, etc. In a recent documentary; three lions in the UK James Beattie had a whole cupboard of them supplied by Southampton.
Almost all pros take some sort of supplemant and many probably take more than one.. The one's that don't are usuall incredibly athletically gifted.
Our coach reccomended our team (being u-14 and growing) take 2 supplements 1.Calcium. calcium from a supplement is absorbed better than calcium from dairy products, and many kids on our team were starting to get stress fractures from runing too much/too hard/too often at practices and such. 2. Glucosamine-Chondroitin. This supplement rebuilds cartilage and lubricates joints, I consider it to be a miracle drug for my weak knees and ankles. Austen
What pro player do you nkow? That's cool. Also, our team has to weight train 3 times a week. Why is it bad?
three from dc united have told me that: brandon prideaux, ryan nelsen, and devon barclay ( now with colombus ). Its just not good for you while your still growing.
They should talk to our local Junior High football team. Well anyways, sometimes I take multivitamin tablets just to stay healthy and stuff. Took iron supplements to help out with my anemia but thats about it.
i currently hit the gym 4 times a week and take protein shakes daily. yup, those shakes arent cheap but there are some benefits.. protein without gym training or other forms of training isnt gonna help. it mainly speeds up the muscle repair and growth (stimulated by the tear/damage done during weights training). protein can be obtained from natural sources (meat, soy etc) but if u really work hard, u probably need much more protein to aid recovery. so unless u intend to eat a cow, protein shakes r concentrated n have significantly less fat, cholesterol. As to whether it bulks u up or slows u down, it really depends on your workout. you can either tone or bulk. For soccer players, weights training can increase muscle endurance plus strength (more toning than bulking) I take protein shakes mainly for gym training but some also after soccer training to aid my recovery.
I know. I actually have heard of a couple of professional players who are vegans, and this doesn't harm their performances or health. Mainly for moral reasons, I believe, however many people who have travelled in the far east are turned off by the way meat is prepared there and become vegetarians. What are people's moral views on consumption of animal products?
I almost have to lift. I'm built like a tree and am incredibly weak. When I started lifting about 14 months ago, I was 6'0" and 130lb, and could bench 65lb. Now I'm about 6'4" and 170lb and can bench 135. I'm still very weak and need to get stronger. Without lifting I would be screwed though....
I use supplements and am a vegetarian. I take a multivitamin, a B12 supplement, the antioxidants zinc and selenium, vitamin E and lutein. I take these based on some reading I've done, trial and error, and the advice of the guy who runs the local healh food store. It's probably best to get the advice of a doctor before using anything, though. Admittedly, I stupidly have not. I work out--mostly cardio with some light lifting and lots of stretching--four times a week and play two games, and generally feel energetic despite a boring 9-6 job. I chose my diet for a number of reasons, including ethical and environmental concerns. I've been vegetarian since just after Thanksgiving last year, and do stray occasionally, but rarely. I've lost 10 pounds since I stopped eating meat, but feel much, much more energetic. I get protein from soy milk, soy products, and beans mostly. Never have tried the shakes, but do have the occasional MetRx bar. It's been an adjustment, but I actually haven't found it to be too restrictive, and I've been gratified to see that I can control the dietary aspect of my life, which actually has fed my confidence that I can change other parts of my life, if that makes sense..
I take multivitamins once a day and a Vitamin C megadose (2x daily) to aid in healing after my 3x a week weight and cardio regiment. It helps a lot, I'm sore less, and I'm getting to be pretty damn well ripped!
