oh this cant be good - AJAX need to stop bull*$%&in and sign VDV - if they expect to keep their windowfront world class talent (chivu, mido, zlatan, van der meyde), they are probably gonna hafta keep all of them - i think if one leaves, others are sure to follow - i know that this is life at AJAX, but i was prayin to get a couple of CL cracks with this side before we are raided by the usual suspects (manu, barca, liverpool, roma, juventus, arsenal juventus, real, the milans)

is anybody else concerned? or is this gonna blow over and VDV will be locked in?

in any event, i wouldnt let this guy talk in public anymore

Since we don't know the exact truth it's hard to say who's at fault here.

But it would be smart for vd Eyden to shut up.

¿Hasn't this guy been injured more games than he's played by now?

He's fantastic when he's fit, the problem is that he isn't fit for long lately. I can understand why Ajax wouldn't be too inclined to give Rafael a huge salary.

by that standard oscar i suppose we should just sell chivu to real madrid, right? - give me a break - VDV has only scored a goal per game (0 penalties i might add) as a 19-year old - we should buy him a small town - maybe van edjen needs to just shut up and do his job and sign VDV!!!

Chivu has been injured less times and shorter periods than van der Vaart. So...?

Yes, van der Vaart is a great player, but his being so injury prone (and according to AFCA, this won't stop in the future) doesn't help his case getting a substantial increase in salary. What good will it do Ajax if he's the best paid player on the team, and possibly the best player on the team, when he's out half of the season?

If they keep Litmanen as well, that will be two (I wager) of Ajax's best paid players playing on the same position, while the club isn't even assured of just one of them being able to play in a certain match.

He will get an increase in his salary with his new contract, but I think Ajax has more than a case to not want this increase to be too hefty, also because they aren't in the best financial situation right now to begin with.

Ronald Koeman said that he supports vd Vaart and is a bit angry with v Eyde in 'De Volkskrant'. He feels that the situation should have been delt with inside the club and not in the media. Besides that, there is more talk about this issue than about football... and that's not good, according to Koeman.

BTW It seems that Ajax is going to attract some Koreans as well. Dong-hyun Kim's manager Yeungjoong Lee said that Ajax will probably sign a temporary contract with the Korean forward. Lee also said that besides Kim, two or three other Koreans might move to Ajax.

    I hope not!

    money...money...money.....

If he is a truly skillful Korean player , then it's ok, I guess. I'm still not decided.
But I believe that the board sees only money when it comes to Korean (& Japanese) players.

Bring them in, and hordes of fans will be lining up at the gates to get into the ArenA.
We will get a bunch of temporary Ajax fans....
...so as long as their hometown heroes are here....

    I hate this !!!

It's probably better that I don't give my opinion on Ajax possibly buying South Korean players, because it might attract the bad element of this board ;)

So I will just quote some random words that have been posted already:

    Totally random. :D

Ahh yes.... I've heard it now.

Maybe it's about time to bring out the old banner "Vd Vaart / Trabelsi verkopen F.Side gaat slopen"

(Sell vd vaart / trabelsi F.side will destroy)

    Dude, Mido's married.

I'm not really worried about it. If we don't end up signing vdv again I think we'll be fine. We've been fine for the most part when he's out injured.

I wouldn't worry about that too much. I think they're not all that dependent on each other. I don't see van der meyde leaving just because Chivu heads off to Leverkusen or Roma. Beside, Ajax shouldn't hurt themselves in the long run by trying to pretend they make the same kind of revenues as the biggest of the big clubs. They'll need to be patient until new ways of brining in the money, for example a European super league, are found.

NO EUROPEAN SUPERLEAGUE OR whatever. Please... do research in the supportersculture before making scuh blasphemous statements... please... a euro-league would kill football as we know it.

And it would solve nothing. It will not overcome the gap between rich clubs and mediumrich clubs. Whoever thinks it will is out of his mind.

If Ajax will ever join such a league... Ajax is over. If it's not us that take care of that it will take care of itsself in the long run. Blech... think about what you say please.

The Iliad. Ajax was a Greek warrior who fought alongside Odysseus and Achilles at the fall of Troy.

Great news. I was glad to see that the skill based Ajax held everyone's favorite kick and chase team(J/K) of the moment(Arsenal) to a draw. :)
