Do somebody know the squadnumbers of Italy?

I don't believe they've been assigned yet. The team meets together for the first time in Coverciano tomorrow, and I suppose that probably will be one of the first items on the agenda, along with a team photo.

 

I'll keep an eye out for it. The official Italian federation site is www.figc.it . They'll probably post the info there when it's available.

 

Maybe I can help on the squad numbers here. I'm pretty sure that on the Italian National team the starters always where numbers 1 through 11. One player won't necessarily have the same number throughout the career because they might not get called up or sit on the bench for the game. However, with organized competitions like Euro2004 and the World Cup they get assigned numbers for the whole thing.

 

Numbers I have seen (or read reports of) the tentative Euro 2004 squad wear.

Buffon 1
Peruzzi ?
Toldo 12
Cannavaro 5
Favalli ?
Ferrari 14
Materazzi 23
Nesta 6
Oddo 13,15
Panucci 2
Zambrotta 3
Camoranesi 11,7
Fiore 16
Gattuso 11,15,16
Perrotta 8
Pirlo 17,10
Zanetti 4
Cassano
Corradi 17,18
Del Piero 7
Di Vaio 19
Totti 10
Vieri 9,21

Numbers that would seem a lock based on past history. Meaning this is what I have most often seen these players wearing for the Azzurri.

1- Buffon
2- Panucci
3- Zambrotta
4- Zanetti
5- Cannavaro
6- Nesta
7- Del Piero
9- Vieri
10- Totti

But who knows, really this is pure speculation on my part.

 

Nesta always wears #13.....Vieri #21 in tournaments...those are a given

only reason why they wear 6 and 9 respectively is because in qualifying and friendlies, the starters have to occupy #1-11.

The official team photo session is scheduled for tomorrow (May 27). If my guess is right, that is when the official numbers will be known.

Thanks, that explains why Vieri has more consistently been wearing number 9. I thought maybe it had to do with whether or not Pippo was in the squad.

In that case:

Nesta: 13
Vieri: 21
Zambrotta: 19 (this is his more customary number for club and country)

Just a quick question if these are the official numbers....why is Vieri #9 when he has worn #21 in both World Cups he has played in?

I guess those are the numbers!! Was just wondering about Vieri because some soccer stores were selling the Euro jerseys with Vieri sporting #21. I feel sorry for anyone who bought them early b/c he is going to wear #9.
