There are rumors that Djordje Mihailovic has been drawing interest from Bundesliga teams, according to Matt Doyle on this week's episode of the Scuffed podcast. "It looks like it's real, though very much in the beginning stages," Doyle says. He goes on to say that if Mihailovic gets 2,000-2,500 minutes and Chicago's attack looks good, he thinks he's gone. It's at about 11 minutes into the episode if you want to check it out, though the whole thing is frankly awesome. Great job as always, @zlebmada!
I’m being told that 20-year-old #CF97 and #USMNT midfielder Djordje Mihailovic is a major target for Feyenoord in the Netherlands, as well as Bayer Leverkusen & Hertha Berlin in Germany.He is set to meet with his representatives after the Gold Cup to go over “next steps”. pic.twitter.com/oy3ftUaTjM— MLS Buzz (@MLS_Buzz) July 3, 2019
FC Nürnberg (@1_fc_nuernberg) November 19, 2019 if he already has a thread than merge or something.
@bungadiri -- Can you merge these? https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/eu...for-djordje-mihailovic.2100901/#post-37562071
I was hoping for a top flight Bundesliga team... Nurnberg is not even a good Bundesliga 2 team. I like the idea of Hertha
Mihailovic didn’t have the best of seasons, especially at the end. He might just need a change of scenery.
Maybe that changes since they finally have new ownership. I think w/ Djordje, it was more about a calamitous performance ahead of the Gold Cup, from which he was never able to recover. Used to have pinpoint accuracy on his passes, and now can't hit the broadside of a barn. Whether he can recover comes down to if he can stack successes or just develop more mental toughness. Moving to a new club/continent couldn't hurt. It probably should be the 2. Bundesliga. The 1. Bundesliga could be a shock to the system, and don't need him playing for reserves.
djordje probably couldve transferred pre godl cup, but you can definitely tell why its a trial based on whats happened since.
He had good form when he returned from his ACL injury in 2018 (showed good promise before that ACL tear in the 2017 playoffs) and started 2019 well, then it just all kind of fell apart.
It is foolish to write him off as a bad player at this point. I really liked him before the ACL injury. He had technical ability but was a lightweight and couldn't handle the physical side of the game. That being said, he's played poorly for a Chicago team that was a brutal place for young players. Brandon Vincent left the sport entirely because Chicago was miserable. It's entirely possible that he resumes a nice rate of progress with a change of scenery - either that is a move abroad or the new management at Chicago.
That's not his fault of course, but it's pretty annoying when you see that standard extended NT roster: Baird, Lewis, Mihailovic, Trapp, Lovitz, etc and trying to figure out what exactly those guys have done.
