Looks like Countess got the U-23 boys in a little hot water after the game versus the Mexican U-23 side.

According to the following article in Mural, a Mexican paper out of Guadalajara, Countess provoked the crowd with "insults" and "jokes" after the US stuck in the 3rd goal at during stoppage time.

This doesn't sound like the Countess that I've seen at games and on television.

    Sensationalism or truth?

He'd probably been hearing it from the fans behind his goal all game and when the game was over he gave a little of the local flavor back. :)

He probably just wanted to clarify that his name is DJ not BJ as they state in the article;) "That's right say my name!"

DJ does look a bit like John Rocker in that picture, and that can't be a good thing.

    All together now: WWWhhhhhaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!

"zese meen greengos came een heer and keeked our tri-colored asses, a-geen, and den dey eensulted us by celebrating."

Pleas, F-them. To the victor go the spoils. We won so we get to talk a little trash. Do these guys think that all the years when the Mexicans were kicking our asses at the Rose Bowl and the Colliseum, etc... that they didn't celebrate and play to the crowd? Cracka, please!

Payback's a bitch, and right now, so is Mexico to us.

It also states that the Mexican fans were throwing all sorts of objects at the Americans and they left without doing any comments to the press and rushed to the bus.

the players of the United States, did not give declarations when leaving the vestidor because they felt threatened by the Mexican fans, who annoying by the 3-1 defeat, were attacking the visitors verbally.

This had fundamentally to that doorman B.J. Countess, when fell the third annotation, turned around towards the tribune insulting, making fun of of the liking, when leaving the field all type of objects fell towards the North Americans, reason for which they were said scared and they preferred to leave quickly towards his bus.

The only one which platicó with mass media was technician Glenn Myernick, while all their players left to their transport.

He is possible to indicate that the things did not happen to greater because to only they shouted some slogans them without things to the mixed area threw to them.

This should be an easier read.......

    Guadalajara, Jalisco.- (14/May./2003)

The U.S. players did not give interviews upon leaving the dressing room because they felt threatened by Mexican fans. The fans, upset by the 3-1 defeat, were verbally abusing the visitors.

This was primarily due to the behavior of D.J. Countess. When the third goal happened, he turned around to the stands and began to insult and make fun of the fans. Upon leaving the field all kinds of objects were thrown at the North Americans. This resulted in them becoming scared and preferring to leave quickly to board their bus.

The only one who spoke with the media was Glenn Myernick, while his players were heading for the bus.

It should be pointed out that things did not get out of hand because only a few fans yelled at them without throwing things in the walkway area...

True enough, but it is often used to describe us...Gringo is actually a negative term even though we don't see it that way.

I always thought that the Mexican MNT are wannabe Brazilians who try to do a lot of cute short passes but can't penetrate defenses and can't score. Also a lot slower. Mexico is not so good in other words.
