I was digging around a few other sites today and came along this. I thought it was interesting. I updated a few items but not much. Not that any of this should matter, it is interesting to see how playing for your country doesn't always have the same meaning. I personally believe if you are brought up with in the country, than your of that countries origins although arguments have been made that many "foreigners" refuse to adapt to the countries cultures and thus they are not true representations of that country. oh, i decided long ago... that diatribe like this is nothing more nor less than pure and uttter b*****ks.

just what torch are you trying to carry? certainly not one that does BS or yourself any credit.

just what is this by way of you're on about? besides its odor of nationalism and anti-immigration, the distinction is both limiting and arbitrary, viz:

Éric Abidal - Lyon, France by way of Martinique...

but no mention that Henry's, Gallas', Clichy's and Anelka's parents also came from the Antilles... nor that Martinique and Gaudeloupe have been Départments longer than Alaska and Hawaii have been US states.

the same inaccuracies for by way of Mali, which concerns not only Alou but both Diarras, by way of Spain (Lloris and Carrasso as well as Valbuena and Domenech more than any of these). why not Squillacci by way of Italy?

even more important is the tenuousness of trying to equate origin with adaptation. consider Gourcuff, Ribéry and Govou.

Gourcuff is Breton. to one extent or another ranging from a taste for local folklore to out and out call for independance Bretons consider themselves seperate from France proper. Ribéry comes from the gritty cités of Boulogne-sur-Mer. in his social and educational background, his way of talking and acting, his choice of religion, he is one of the least "french" of the 23. Govou (by way of Beninese [sic]) grew up in the bucolic Haute-Loire, did his first communion, got his bac S... for all intents and purposes other than his negritude the perfect offspring of the French provincial bourgeoisie.

in one way perhaps this is all water to your mill. but primarily it points out you don't really know what you're talking about.

That's a lot of effort to put into something that doesn't really matter.

I guess your ability to read and understand English is lacking. Quote from myself, "I was digging around a few other sites today and came along this. I thought it was interesting. I updated a few items but not much. Not that any of this should matter".

Which part of I found this on another site did you not understand? I don't know what "By way of" means other then maybe it means their orgins are from there???

And, if you read further down, I said I believe if your raised in the country you now play for, I'm for that. What I don't believe in are players who are from another country but use their Parents nationality to get into their origins just so they can play instead of bench ride. Ala Freddy Kanote I believe. Otherwise, having the National teams are worthless and are nothing more than club teams.

There is all this talk about the French Team not being French so I wanted to see for myself what the truth was and this is what I came accross. I did a little research to verify some of it and that's it. I am arguing FOR the team, not against it. Your anger seems to have gotten the best of you because you either didn't read the post or can't read/understand English.
