From the Dispatch. Thought it was interesting... The Major League Soccer season opens April 3 and there’s still no word on a site for this season’s All-Star Game and MLS Cup. The All-Star Game tentatively is scheduled for July 24, but MLS still hasn’t settled on an international opponent to play the all-stars. Insiders say the league is allowing the international teams with which it is negotiating to dictate where and when the game will be played, which is why no announcement has been made. Columbus Crew Stadium is in the running for both events, but it probably has no shot at the All-Star Game if MLS comes up with a major opponent such as Real Madrid, which could sell out a larger venue. The MLS Cup is set for Nov. 14. New York, Chicago and Los Angeles also are under consideration for both events.
