Baseball's gone to a pitch relay system between catcher & pitcher. And I think an infielder can be part of it. Catcher taps on device on wrist to give pitch. Bet there's attempted hacking going on.
So as expected chessdotcom totally has the goods and receipts on Hans and his trainer for cheating on the platform. They now released a 70+ page report with the deets. I get chessdotcoms privacy approach, as a private business and not the sport regulator. They gave people second chances, so long as the details of the cheating were admitted. i.e. they have the receipts/confessions. But I think the real issue here is some people clearly knew Hans was deeply suspect but the public didn't. It reminds me of how Froome failed his drugs test but this was kept secret. Also, the people claiming magnus needed evidence and raving on about the presumption of innocence look pretty stupid right now. Hans cheated, didn't tell anyone, then lied in his 'confession'. As lawyers say, there is probable cause here - it's for Hans to explain - not Magnus! Indeed how can Magnus provide the hard proof of Hans cheating? Magnus is not the regulator. The problem is a different one. There is a lack of transparency and a lack of precautions so that we can trust what we are seeing
If anyone is interested the report gives really great insights into how they ID cheats. The algo's they use provide insights for human analysis. In simple terms, they have an algo which estimates the strength of a player over many games. if a player appears too strong compared to known humans, then expert players start diving into the specifics. Catching smart cheaters is hard because they don't always use the engine move, and throw in 'blunders" or less good moves. What also found very interesting was the analysis of Hans in OTB. Alireza - the other 19 year old super GM prodigy, has a very typical rise - achieving GM status at 15, and his graph begins to flatten as he reaches 'best in the world level' (i.e his peak) Hans has a very late and rapid rise, after being a donkey for 3.5 years. That is very very strange, particularly given his rise starts precisely when he is kicked of chessdotcom for extensive cheating
Trying to figure out how that would even help in cycling. Signaling to your team which way to go? The funniest one I saw was that someone had made their bike into an electric bike. "Hey - Francois has his feet up on the handlebars & he's going uphill!"
Froome was similar to Hans in that he was a total donkey of a rider who suddenly became the greatest TdF rider of all time - and of course Team Sky did it all without doping - just using marginal gains like colour coded water bottles! Hans problem is he has no narrative to explain his sudden elevation to hottest teenage talent in the world. He claims he lived in hotels for 2 years, shunning any social contact to focus on chess - but of course the others all did that as well. What makes no sense, is not so much his performance in the last 2 years, but his lack of performance for 3.5 years -how was he so bad at age 15 compared to Alireza? Hans didn't even become a GM until 17, which is at least 2 years later than all the teenage talents
When you say "the goods," do you mean the actual goods?!? They have the "beads"? I hope they cleaned and sterilized before handling them.
If you want to combine true-crime, chess, anal beads and youtube - this is the video for you (these guys generally review murderers and psychopaths)
Lol. Any race where the fans are mostly just waiting for crashes (cycling, drag racing, NASCAR) are silly as spectator sports IMO. But to each his own.
Here's a novel idea to defeat the scourge of cheating in chess: make all competitors insert RANDOMLY VIBRATING ANAL BEADS before each competition.
So I just learned that there are approximately 1700 Grand Masters. That's some serious grade inflation there.
