Did you see them? Honestly they should have been sent off for there PESISTENT Diving and playacting. Its a discrace and now martin oneil is being investigated by UEFA for saying they were not being very sportsmanship.

    Shocking. :(

From the other thread but on point.

Good Game. Unfortunately I did not see the extra time b/c I watched it on FSW replay and they opted not to show it. Unbelievable.

Porto was the better team from the get go and deserved the win period. Celtic came out very physical trying to take the Porto players out of their game and slow them down with a lot of questionable contact. 35 fouls committed to Porto's 18.

In any event, the Porto players showed a tremendous amount of skill in avoiding tackles and playing around the Celtic players causing them to back off certain players. 60% possession for Porto and 40% for Celtic.

Larrson had a great game and must be commended on converting 2 out of the 3 shots on goal that Celtic was able to muster over 125 minutes. Porto had 12 shots and 3 goals. I don't know if this had more to do with the superiority of Porto's front runners or whether Porto's defense just got the job done. Porto's GK although was horrible. Every cross into the box was an adventure.

The way I saw it - Porto played with 6 defenders all game long and relied on the creativity and ability of its 4 front runners to overcome Celtic's numerical advantage on defense. Good strategy in that it protected them against counter attack goals against the run of play while providing Deco and co. the freedom to dice through Celtic.

Both teams played with lots of heart and I especially like how neither team put their heads down when they fell behind. Celtic played as well as they can and are to be commended. Loved the Celtic fans too although apparently their behavior was abysmal at the end of the match – booing the awards and lots of whining.

Not seeing the extra time I can't comment on the playacting accusations but during regular time I saw many Celtic players simply try to turn a soccer match into something else to compensate for their inability to play ball at Porto's level. Porto players rightfully fought fire with fire by making sure that they recovered from bad challenges so as not to give Celtic any unfair advantages. I didn’t see anything outrageous in regular time although I understand from what people have posted here that extra time was different.

Only because today is Festivus day, I won't ask what 'PESISTENT' means.

And yes, those Porto players need a shower.

After i watch the tape 3 times this is my conclusion:

1 Celtic resorted to leg kiking, sort grabing, elbow smaching and body slaming to compensate for they lack of soccer skills in order to keep up with Porto.

2 Porto time waisting (not sure if you can call that cause was plenty of added time giving) was justified for they need to take a brake for the Physical abuse.

3 Porto outplayed and outsmarted Celtic through out the match for not retaliating to Celtic stragety.

4 Deco the best player on the pitch, Larson great striker and Thompson, dirtiest player i ever seen...

5 Porto won this game because they simply played better soccer than Celtic

6 if someone played dirty, it was Celtic

7 Celtic fans, although created a great atmosphere, the booing when Porto lifted they seserved trophy was deplorable and the worse case of POOR LOOSING i ever saw.

O'Neill just shouldn't act like a crybaby. He/Celtic lost, Porto won, period. I expected a better mentality from him.

this was just a lil present for porto since portugal sucked at wc02 and since euro2004 is in portugal

theyr gonna hype it up by saying beatiful stadiums, the home of porto the uefa cup champs bla bla

and then portugal will get their ass kicked again and again and again

and hiring scolari as a coach wont help them b/c they are OVERRATED

What is it with these people that are trying to make this a national thing!!!? Porto is a club from Portugal wich happen to win the UEFA cup (deserved it if i may say so) and has nothing to do with the Portuguese national team....about getting they ass kiked, i guess we will have to wait and see won't we?
It seems to me there is lots of resentment toward Portuguese clubs ( Porto in particular) by Brithish fans...is it because you guys did not win squat this year in Europe? and is absolutly inconceivable to you that a British team would loose to a Portuguese team in a European final? well get use to it because its gonna happen more often than you think!!!!

Well that remains to be seen.

It also remains to be seen if they can actually hold onto the players that won the UEFA cup for them.
Perhaps they will now set their sights on bigger and better things huh?

"well that remains to be seen." Is there an eco in here?
didn't i say that before? (well maybe not exactly the same words). Probably Porto can't hold to some of the players...maybe some "big" British team like Manchester or Arsenal or New Castle will take them!!!!!
OH wait, according to you guys, Porto sucks and is DIRTY!!!!why would they wanna take Porto's players??????

    UMmmm...
Can't remember saying Porto "sucks"...don't remember saying they were "dirty" either.
I do remember saying that they deserved the win on the overall performance of the game as a whole.

I doubt very much if man Yooo will be in for any of them, however the second tier teams around Europe might fancy pinching one or two of your lot.
Anybody out of contracy or close to it?
Who will be the first one to have his agent ask for a "revised contract"

Maybe one of these "second tier teams" around Europe can eliminate BIG BAD Man united from the champions league next season....maybe with the help of some of these Porto players...Oh hell maybe even Porto. Nothing would make me happier.....

Relax man, i'm just dreaming here.....

AC Milan will beat Porto 3-0....mark my words.
Italy always beats on Portugal, if it is not through the National team then it is in club play.

Portuguese style is non-effective against the Italian style. The Porto-Lazio game was an exception as Lazio started the season on a high and did not have as much success in the second portion but still tip my hat to Porto on that night. They played a great game.

    MILAN 3 - 0 Porto
Then Milan will sign either Deco or Postiga immiedetely after the game...haha

You are probably right about one thing... they would probably sign Deco and Postiga after the game, but just because Deco and Postiga will bolth score a goal against Milan and make it 2-0 Porto....hahaha!!!!

anyone have details about the super cup? like date, location etc...?

anyways, ECmoney might be right. the only way to stop italian play is playing another italian team like the champs league final.

ironic how making the final with two italian teams only gives critics of the serie A more ammo.

sad sad final. if either man utd or real had gone all the way it would been much more exciting.

hmm..that said, it is unfair for the italians. they deserve to have the two teams because they did it. good job.
