The MLS direct kick package has a free preview this weekend on Directv. I would imagine it will be like that on Dish as well. That will help everyone out who doesnt get KFDW 52 or cant make it to the watching party for this weekends match against KC. Plus with the MLS schedule this weekend You can watch soccer from 4 until almost midnight.
Thanks for the info. I would make it to the watching party, but I'm moving apartments tomorrow & Saturday and this will help
Does anyone know for sure if this will be available on DISH. For some damn reason, DISH doesn't have channel 52. I was thinking about going out any buying a pair of rabbit ears for the game, but I don't know if that would work in the wilderness of desolate Frisco.
texgator, yes. DISH says 'free preview' for the Dallas game and the 6:30 start Fire × Crew... best as I can tell, however, those are the only Sat. eve. matches 'cause there are late-ish DISH games Sunday at Denver (fireworks) plus the one night game Pacific Daylight Time. btw. If channel 52 is KFWD, KFWD shows up on DISH as DISH # 8409 if you've done whatever to receive the local stations. not quite sure if 52 = kfwd, however. tv is my friend.
Bill, Its there....its even on channel 52....it just says I need to obtain a second dish to get it and several of the local spanish stations. I'm really not into the prospect of putting another hunk of metal on my roof. I have a DISH up there....I should get the damn station.
yeah DISH keeps wanting you to put more stuff---they keep launching new satellites. However. the DISH 500 satellite dish (the slightly elongated one that, Marty Feldman-like, focuses on two satellites) is the only one I have. Against expectation, it started bringing me DISH 8411, the locally originated Telemundo, Telefutura and Univision, and a couple new English language locals, all of which had been displaying that blue "you must have a second dish to receive this channel" message. to re-iterate for clarity: Calendar date A, I had DISH 500 and received some locals (ABC-CBS-NBC-Fox etc) but not others. Date B, without me going up on the roof or paying more or nuthin', more locals started coming through! No more grainy broadcast Telemundo on the black-and white 5" cigarette-lighter TV. re: rabbit ears: That little TV gets ch. 8 fantastic here 25 miles west of the Texas Motor Speedway. don't know where Ch. 52's transmitter is re: Frisco TV reception.
So what games are on DirectKick this weekend? Dallas Burn vs Kansas City Wizards at 3? Chicago Fire vs. Columbus Crew at 6:30 right? Anything else on Saturday? What about Sunday?
Bill, I'll have to check into that.....I have a DISH 500 too....I didn't realize we were now getting 52. That's great news. I did notice the new hispanic stations and have been enjoying the additional MFL coverage.....if not the commentary....no hablo. Thanks for the info, man.
Metros-Revs at 4 on the ESPN2 Fire-Crew at 6:30 on Direct Kick and Fox Sports World (I recommend watching it on Direct Kick, since the Chicago announcers are more tolerable than the FSW schmucks) Burn-Wizards at 7:30 on Channel 52 and Direct Kick By the way, the reason why you DISH subscribers now get 52 when you needed a separate dish before is because the FCC smacked them for requiring a second dish to receive some "lesser" stations. They ruled that if DISH was going to offer local stations in a market, they had to have all the locals in the market on the same dish, so as not to give certain stations advantages over the others. It's OK for them to require a second dish for locals in a market, so long as all the locals were on that second dish. Obviously, DISH figured that putting all the D/FW locals on the main satellite was more cost-effective than putting up a second dish on everyone's house in the area.
Dustin, Thanks for the explanation, I didn't know about that. I had gotten so used to not having channel 52 that I always skipped right over it. How long has it been available on the main dish? So, it looks like the free preview of Direct Kick doesn't even really matter this week. All those games are available on other channels. Great! What a waste of a free preview.
The Sunday July 4th games (NE@Col and SJ@LA) will also be shown free on DirectKick. It's not a "total waste of a free preview."
Oh great....earlier in the thread someone posted that they didn't think the Sunday games were part of the preview. Thanks for the info. That certainly makes it better.
I know Dustin answered this as well, but since I'm trying to record the whole season, here's my list - with repeats. If you've got a dbs system with the RSN pack, replays are not blacked out.
