Thought this news should be highlighted in its own thread, as most/all cable or satellite subscribers will (or should) be able to see every MLS game during the opening week from 3/15 - 3/20. 2011 MLS Direct Kick package unveiled MLSsoccer.com
Games on Saturday, March 19: TFC v Vancouver Seattle v NYRB Chicago v FC Dallas Philly v Houston Columbus v DCU Portland v Colorado RSL v San Jose KC v CUSA
FWIW, I noticed the games for this weekend are now listed on my system's guide (Comcast). Probably true for other cable companies supported by In Demand.
On my Directv guide the games I want to see most aren't showing up on the HD channels. I hope things change by Saturday but it looks like only a couple are going to be in HD at this point. Tim
I noticed that on my DirecTV onscreen guide too. However, the DirecTV MLS Direct Kick page for March 19th shows that all of its games that day (except for Sporting Kansas City at Chivas USA) will also be in HD, so hopefully the onscreen guide will be updated accordingly by Saturday. -G
I'm kind of upset about this ... I went out of town for the weekend and I wanted to program the DVR on my Comcast digital cable but the games weren't even listed on the schedule for me to program. I even called Comcast to buy the package but they told me they can't sign me up until the 19th. The guy had to put me on hold for ten minutes to talk to a manager to figure out what Direct Kick was Then I asked if they can tell me which channels the games will come on and all they could narrow it down to was 9 possible channels the games could be shown on. And lastly when I tried to just take a guess and record the channel I thought it would be on, the system wouldn't let me unless I'm subscribed for a package which I wasn't able to do even though I called with a credit card in hand. It's no big deal, I'm just missing out on one week, but my Comcast in Minnesota sure isn't making it easy for potential buyers.
thanks. agreed. technically you do have to spend to be a pay tv subscriber in good standing in order to qualify for the "free" preview.
It now looks like the link has been updated and that even the Sporting Kansas City at Chivas USA will be in HD. -G
FWIW, it looks like In Demand has the cable schedule up for the first two weeks (which would apply to Comcast and some other cable companies). I guess it won't help you if you can't DVR even if you know the channel but it might help find games for folks who don't have them listed on the on screen guide.
As of Saturday morning, the DirecTV onscreen guide is updated with every single MLS game today in both SD and HD. -G
Charter sucks. They have never carried direct kick. They also do not carry NFL pkg. At least they consistently suck.
Just talked to a Comcast Rep in Atlanta, and they say at this time, the Direct Kick package is "Not Available". WTF??!!
Nothing showing up here in the Twin Cities... EDIT: Just found the games on the guide paired with NBA package.
I have U-verse so I'm assed out. I keep waiting for ATDHE.Net to add the Vancouver-Toronto match, but they only have the games through 5 EST right now.
On Comcast in Seattle, the Direct Kick channels are 440-450. These are in order: TEAMHD - 440 TEAM1 - 441 TEAM2 - 443 TEAM3 - 443 TEAM4 - 444 TEAM5 - 445 TEAM6 - 446 TEAM7 - 447 TEAM8 - 448 TEAM9 - 449 TEAM10 - 450 And the game listing is at: http://www.indemand.com/sports/mls/mls_schedule.pdf This may be the same for all comcast.
Anyone know about Direct TV's status on this free weekend? I had one housemate call and they verified they were having issues and that it would be free this weekend. I called today since all I see on the channels is the Direct TV logo and was assured by the woman that it would not be shown until next weekend for some reason. I'm not sure how to wrap my plans around that because I obviously want to watch my team, but I would like to the new teams in their first games as well
