Let's hear it...do you want him around next year? Is he good enough to succeed and fulfill his huge price tag at the club under Rafa?

I personally think he could, but I wouldn't be tremendously bothered if he didn't get the chance to prove it. I think he's a prat of the highest order and really doesn't understand the "Liverpool way". But that's just me.

Rafa might just be the man to get something out of the very young, obviously talented Diouf. But I agree that his application and temperament do not bode well for a long and stellar career for the Reds. With that knowledge in mind - I would be okay if Rafa wants to evaluate the entire squad's worth of players before making any final decision. But personally I would be willing to sell him immediately to anyone who offered £6m or more.

And buy an athletic center-half with the proceeds.

I am not too excited about the rumored loan deal(s) unless they are loan/option to buy deals. Why waste time with him still on the books unless it is too hard to get even reasonable money out of him in a transfer?

I would like to give him a chance under the new coach. He has tremendous potential if played in the right position. Don't like him spitting on fans though. I have a feeling if we lose him he will return to his 20002 form.

I don't think he will ever be a striker - if he contributes at 'Pool, I think it will be in a wide role.

That being said, are there many other wide right-sided midfielders currently in the EPL that you would prefer to have at 'Pool?

    1) Ljungburg (a tad injury prone)
    2) C Ronaldo (holding my nose)
    3) Sean Wright-Phillips
    4) Brett Emerton
    5) Fabrice Fernandes
    6) Geremi (maybe)

    Anyone else?

That's the worst that could happen... that he find his form that made him twice African player of the year... at another club.

But Diouf, he who would suppose to be LFC's able 3rd striker, instead of Anelka, who Houllier had claimed to be the downfall of his managerial career at LFC. Does he deserves another chance?

My problem with him is that every time he appears to be hitting a rich seam of form, he gets injured or becomes a donkey. Consistently, he just does not seem to have it. Flash, flash, wet squib. And the squibs last a lot longer than the flashes.

Diouf is hardworking, violent, and flamboyant. He is a menace to defenders every time I see him play, if not with his skill then his tempermant. Give him a little more time with the new manager.

In the words of Crash Davis, he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a f***in' boat.

Get what you can for him and bring back Titi.

His temperment is a liability to the team. We don't need someone out there who is a well known wind up target, constantly putting the team at risk of having to play a man down.

There's little role for him anymore, and IMO he isn't very good. Dump him.

He worked for Liverpool and gave it an honest effort, he even quit diving every time he saw the penalty area... BUT. He's lacking in pace, that really surprized me when I saw him in a footrace with a fullback. Probably why he hasn't scored as many as he should have and his temperment just keeps getting him carded. We can do better.

Diouf was officially discovered in WC 2002. For most part he is in trouble now because he doesn't score. I think he is doing the same thing he did in the WC2002.

Do you guys remember that he did not score any goal in WC 2002. He only made goals for others. I would say give him one more year. Under Rafa he may improve. It may be a mistake to let him go because he may come back and haunt Pool.

How many red cards has Diouf gotten? He got that one against Chelsea last year, which was a real cheap one and was taken back afterwards. Other than that, I do not remember any others.

I think in the 2-3 yrs that I have been following the EPL, Diouf has got to be the biggest bust! Not trolling, just being honest. He was named the Best Footballer in Africa, then came to the famous Kop and didn't produce nearly close enough to the hype he received.

    655321,

I love your signature....good stuff. The reason why Chelsea isn't known is because they haven't won a league title in anyone's lifetime.....LOL. Sorry CFC supporters, but The FA Cup is not going to win over mobs of new supporters!

I agree with everything in bold. I think he has pace, but not so much with the ball at his feet. Which brings me to my points.

1 - He never was and never will be a striker. He is a forward, there is a difference. He'll never get 20 goals, get over it.

2 - How many games did he get thrown out of last year? He is not any more a consistent threat to be red carded than anyone else. Our own Captain makes as many rash challenges. I don't care who's fans he spits at, as long as they aren't ours.

3 - The kid wants to get this done. He wants to stay. He wants to make this work. He never has been running out for a transfer or bitching to the public. It's kind of sad/funny how Houllier pins Diouf as a scapegoat in the first place.

He is good enough to be on the squad and right now he isn't going to bring in the transfer bills we would like anyway. Keep him, let him grow more under a manager more accustomed to getting maximum potential out of his players. He is a qualified 4th forward and a good enough side midfielder.

He doesn't diminish the side any measure by being around, so get off this Diouf **********. This is getting redundant, it isn't his fault we sucked last year.

ok the case for Diouf being right for us...your kidding right?

He has been with us what 2 seasons ...and how many goals has he scored for us? 6 in 80 apperances.

He had 1 good torniment in 1 of the weakest world cups ever with the super powers of football fielding there weakest teams for years. Which hardly justified a £10m tag we paid. But then again Liverpool have a hibit of buying players with 1 decent torniment under there belt who dont make the grade (eg Jason McAteer).

He has average pace, compared to the likes of Pires, Lundberg, SWP, Duff and Robben who all play in simmilar positions. He gives the ball away cheaply and far too often, his finishing just isnt there and his crossing is wowfully inadiquate. OK so we play him out of position in RMF but tbh I think even if we played him as a striker or fwd the above would still prove problematic.

He may develop but tbh i dont think he is worth having in the squad untill this time. He is a drain on resorces with a wage bill so high that if we sell him we are going to have to make up his wages for what would have been the remainder of his contract.

He has had his chance maybe we should let 1 of the other up and comming youngsters have a go, whos development is being hampered by the likes of Diouf who is Anfields biggest most expensive flop.

In a recent artical run in 4-4-2 magazine for worst player in the premiership he was runner up behind Biscan. Please its embarassing that we have players who are this bad in our squad and yet we are hoping to challange for honours.

I think we should sell him and recop some of the loss or at least loan him out and see how he develops, hopefully he would either come back worthy of a place or we could bump his price up because atm he simply isnt good enough for us.

Now bids on Diouf....lets start at a green peanut M&M shall we.....

Diouf is muck. I'd love to see him back at Anfield next season...;)

I disagree. Although Diouf excelled at playing sort of a winger-withdrawn forward role at the World Cup, he did score 9 of Senegal's 14 goals in the African qualifiers, and while he was nowhere near as prolific at Lens, he led the team in scoring over the 2 years he was there.

He should be kept, at least until the end of this season though - there's no use in selling him now as his value has dropped so much and he can only improve. This will be his make-or-break year, I think.

Im sorry I dont think you can count the world cup qualifiers...the teams he played against included alot of part times or nations who are far from the best eg Namibia and Algeria (6 from Diouf in 2 matchs). If he hadnt have scored well against the whipping boys of the group ther would have been something worng for a fwd who plays full time in a half decent european league.

He seems to have rarly scroed when there has been some quallity opposition.

As for his 'prolific' goal scoring at Lens it was 18 from 54 apperances...thats 1 in 3 games in a league which imo isnt as tough as the EPL. 1 in 3 is hardly prolific for a player who is suposidly a striker and deffinatly not worthy of the nick 'serial killer'.

Compare that strike rate to other prem strikers, his best season at Lens:

Forsell 19 goals in 37 apperances for Bham
Owen 158 goals in 297 apperances for Lpool
RVN 110 goals in 145 apperances for ManU
Tierry Henry 151 goals in 255 apperances for Arsenal

all have a strike rate of scoring in at least 1 in 2. Even his strike rate as a scoring winger isnt in the same class as other players (demonstrated by only 6 from 80 games for lpool)...loan and see what becomes of him or cut losses and sell him as atm he isnt good enough.
