Our good friend Jim Rome completed his final tv show today, and will be confined to the radio. One medium down, one to go.......
I'd have preferred him to stay on TV and get off radio. Or at least change his radio format to get rid of the idiot callers.
I still think people on these boards take Rome way too seriously. At least he engages with the sport from time to time--and, given further success and popularity, I can see him someday reevaluating his approach.
Finally, soccer can overtake football and basketball!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look out Sportscenter SUPAH REVOLUTION!!
I lost any respect for Rome when he badgered Jim Everitt years ago on TV (Prime Sports). I had already lost respect for Jim Everitt when he was tackled by a phantom versus the Niners. Of course, being a Niner fan, I never had any respect for a Ram! Rome's act on the radio is dull. I don't see how he has any kind of following.
Rome is so out of date its funny his show wasn't cancelled long ago. I remember the day of the MLB Allstar game he was doing his show from the stadium and you could tell they fix him up in the studio. He looked 10 years older out of his studio atmosphere. He is going gray and if you picture him without his goat he would look like the wimp he really is. Bye Bye Rome, its hasn't been nice knowing you, you ignorant redneck.
Re: Re: Ding Dong the Witch is Dead (well, sort of...) This incident was precisely why Rome is an idiot. Not because of his soccer-bashing, but because his shtick is all about drawing attention to himself rather than being a good interviewer. Calling Jim Everett "Chris"...ooh, that's edgy. Dave
Re: Re: Ding Dong the Witch is Dead (well, sort of...) or you perhaps. Anything good happen in the world of soccer lately?
Today I watched Liverpool play West Ham on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain. The broadcast almost felt like it had been baptised and reborn now that the Devil himself had been sent back to Hell. Bye Bye Rome, enjoy your AM radio show. Do new radios even come with the AM band?
Re: Re: Ding Dong the Witch is Dead (well, sort of...) The Rhome-Everitt thing was all staged and preplanned. That came out a couple of years ago in the an interview with Everitt. Rhome is an actor, not a sports reporter.
