I put the [R] because, technically, it effects the outcome of the ODAC tournament. Not sure if needed though.

Gutsy move by the coach....to be commended I'm sure..really sucks to be the players that worked so hard and to have that come back to get them. Being so highly ranked all year (top 5 in nation, gone to NCAA's last few years) and being honest enough to report the infraction may get them an at-large bid....

    what do you think?

If you ascribe to the notion (and I do) that an important part of the collegiate experience involves the understanding of ethical behavior in critical decision making, then the coach did the only thing he could. I suspect the player knew it as well and could have noted it himself before the fact, avoiding the problem entirely.

Well, he's a better man than I am. It was a totally classy and ethically correct move on the coach's part.

However, I think I'd have acted more along the lines that if the ref didn't note the caution in his scorecard - I mean, there's a reason it's also called a "booking" - then proper procedure wasn't followed and I get off on a technicality.

But that's just me.... I'm an aggressive gambler.

BTW, if the NCAA screws Va. Wesleyan out of an at-large bid, it certainly won't send much of a message that encourages other coaches to do the right thing.

Gutsy move, classier guy than me...

You can believe that if the NCAA can screw somebody then they will...I have no confidence in them to do the right thing b/c they are so corrupt they don't know what right is anymore...
