Bermuda newspaper confirm that Haiti will be hosting from Sept 5 . Teams : Bermuda, Haiti , Puerto Rico and St Martin http://bermudasun.bm/main.asp?SectionID=8&SubSectionID=105&ArticleID=60049&TM=62665.7 Also mention that Cayman Isl had to withdraw.
I found out why the groups had all been changed.. The sponsorship deal with Digicel expired (four year deal signed in 2007), it seems that part of negotiations on Digicel's behalf was to have each group's host nation be an area where Digicel operate to maximise their return. I imagine they told CFU they weren't willing to renew unless the host nations were changed. http://futbolboricua.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/jeffrey-webb-habla-de-enfocarse-en.html Also in that blog Jeff Webb has told the Puerto Rican blogger that they're looking at creating a Pan-Caribbean Professional League.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_Caribbean_Championship_qualification doesn't have the First Round groups but it says that 9 teams will advance to the Second Round. There will be six groups with all the winners and three second place teams advancing, but it won't have to be the best three second place teams. The second place teams that advance will come from Group A or B, C or D, and E or F. The Second Round will have three groups of four with each group having one of Grenada, Guadeloupe, or Cuba (those three start in the Second Round), two group winners, and one second place team.
Group on St Kitts/Nevis start Oct 10. Teams : St Kitts/Nevis, T & T , French Guiana and Anguilla http://www.ttffonline.com/home/late...art-caribbean-cup-qualifiers-vs-anguilla.html
is there a website that has all this on one page? This seems disorganized and confusing. Why did cayman and usvi withdraw?
Dominican Rep going to Curacao in September. http://www.balompiedominicano.com/2012/08/federacion-convoca-jugadores-para-la.html?spref=tw
?????????????.............Aruba, is playing against Barbados, Dominica and DOMINICAN REPUBLIC in Barbados on 23-25-27 september 2012........another change in the schedule ??????
The same article is also mentioning that they are indeed going to "Curazao" and that they have a player, Miguel Odalis playing in Aruba (???). 100% not playing in Aruba.
From Dom. Rep FA website 22. to 29. September in Barbados : Barbados, Dominican Rep , Aruba and Dominica http://www.fedofutbol.org/noticias/noticias-nacionales/2012/8/rumbo-a-la-copa-digicel-2012-en-barbados.aspx
and yet Saint Lucia's own website say that St. Lucia are playing Barbados, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and British Virgin Islands in Barbados. This is a mess.
Those that followed the CFU Club Cup tournament know this is par for the course. Unfortuantaely, the CFU has not be able to plan and organize this year. Everything seems to be done on the fly. I don't know if the it is the CFU's problem or the local associations. Some associations seem to be in such financial straits that they cannot afford to send teams. Of course, there are potential visa problems and the fact that professional teams do not have to release players for national team games not scheduled on FIFA internaitonal dates. Truly for the CFU, 2012 is SNAFU!
I think there will be 5 first round groups, as USVI, Cayman Islands and Bahamas may have withdrawn. So only 4 of the 5 group runners-up would advance.
So Digicel didn't wanna renew? Isn't this the 3rd schedule change?! It's hard for teams that have overseas players to even prepare since they don't know when they're playing...this is ridiculous!
I've started a new thread with the groups in: https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/caribbean-cup-2012-confirmed-groups.1973535/
Starts tonight Also, St Lucia's group dates confirmed http://www.thevoiceslu.com/sports/2012/september/04_09_12/SLFA.htm
