I like the second-half move to take Magee out and put Mathis up front. The double switch with Digi moving to left wing and Ziadie coming at left-back I don't think really work. Digi had a great first half as a wingback but seemed to disappear a bit when he moved to winger. Ziadie looked uncomfortable at left back, not surprising as he's more a midfielder anyway, and he's used to right back. More defensive scares overall in the second half too; on the whole I think Digi's looks to be a great wing back, let's leave him there.
Man, Leitch made 1 mistake in his first start and all of a sudden hes bad? The guy was solid all game except for that 1 mistake.
It was a pretty horrid mistake, and it cost us the only goal we gave up. Plus to say he was "solid" all game is a bit of an overstatement. The criticism is warranted. As for Digi in midfield, the best way to get him involved in the attack might be in a 3-5-2, where he patrols the entire left side of the field.
Although he moved into the midfield, I think he was given the assignment of pressuring Cobi. Bradley didn't like the space that Cobi received in the 1st half. Digi seems to be a real quality winger that can play well in either a 3-5-2 or a 4-4-2. You got to love the way he takes on defenders. While I think he needs some more work on this crosses - I can recall a couple that he hit with a lot of pace. He's a great addition - hopefully his body holds up.
One thing about Digiamarino - the guy has got to learn to use his right foot once in a while. There were a couple of instances on Saturday where he got taken out of a play by an LA defender solely because he insisted on using his left foot.
Yes and No. I mean, yeah, Leitch's gaffe cost us the goal. But Mathis' backheel to trigger the Galaxy counter at the end of the first half was a more heinous mistake that did not end up in the net. Leitch has some tools. He's very fast and he's a competitor. We're not so good and/or deep that we can just start discarding players. Let's hope he learns and improves. If you were at the Rochester game you'd have said "Leitch should start" based on his wheels alone. So, cut him a bit of slack.
Leitch, DiGi, and extra width: JSBE fo shizzy most crew fans can probably count on one hand the number of mistakes Leitchy made last season in the black and gold. before he took over at right back, that side of the pitch was an absolute sieve. disappointed to see him get traded being as though he's a local boy and we played against him in high school, but Paule has been the personification of solid for c-bus after a shaky first half against the galaxy. you're almost certainly rushing to judgment(similar to Rev fans bitching about Shalrie Joseph and how he isn't quality based on one lazy-looking play in the 2nd half last Saturday) if you think Leitch isn't a player based on one gaffe, even if it did lead to a goal. as for this Saturday and keeping it on topic with respect to DiGi, i'm wondering if Clark starts on the right this weekend with DiGi on the left. the only real problem i see with Bradley's side at this point, now that depth seems to be solved with the arrival of DiGi, Guevara, Wolyniec, Forchetti, and Galvan, is the lack of width, as evidenced by the four midfielders clustered in the center to start the match last Saturday. based on what we've seen here in the first three weeks, you lot seem to be the only club who may genuinely challenge us for the conference crown. i wish Guevara was going to be there Saturday, i'd love to see that li'l bugger play in person. good luck.
Take this from someone who watched Leitch all last year. He's going to be a good RB in this league. He's young and makes mistakes, but I thought he looked really good coming out of the back and putting a few good crosses against LA. That's something he didn't show when he was with the Crew. Which says to me that he is improving as a player. The Crew didn't have the playing time available with Hejduk coming in to develope him fully, but if given time with the Metros, he will become a very good player for them. The Metros are going to be a really tuff team come midseason. Watching the game on Sat., I thought that maybe a good combo would be Leitch at RB and Zadie at RM. That would definatly put a lot of speed on the right side. With DiGi on the left, wheather LB or LM, and Guerava and Clark in the center that would cause serious problems for a lot of teams in this league.
Well, I'm glad to hear the Crew fans have positive things to say about Leitch. I hope they're right. I hope Saturday was just a bad game for Leitch. From my seat, I thought he looked unimpressive throughout the game, not just on the goal. But there must be a reason Bradley is starting him.
