Difficult to maintain multi-sport

    Yes, but I don't think it applies in this situation. Have you ever heard of "respect"? It's respect for the coaches and teammates that should prompt one to inform them ahead of time of significant issues that can affect participation.

    You did the right thing.

    Sorry I disagree.

    Next time I'll opt to stay silent. And deal with any conflicts as they arise. Because it might be that no conflict arises, so if you talk you just arouse suspicion for naught.

    In the end, some coaches (and leadership) suck. Others don’t. That’s what it boils down to.

    IMHO you did the right thing and also set that example for your son. Short-term pain but hopefully long-term gain.
