    hi, i was wondering if they are certain boots for certain positions. i am a long time player( i am 15) and i dont see a difference in what boots you play in and the position you play. i have seen strikers wear the pulses and defenders wearing the vapors. is there a difference? or can anyone wear anything? most importanly does it affect your game?

    one can wear what is ever comfortable and no shoes do not effect your game although if you are a defender i dont suggest vapors because they are too thin.

    I have pondered about this topic also.

    My hypothesis
    vapor=forward because light
    Pulses=Defense
    F50=Midfield
    AztIII=Midfield
    Ulhsport 360 Goalkeeper= Goalkeeper

    Thats what I think, but it's really what you feel comfortable and what you like. I am a keeper, but I use the gold supernova. that's what I think.

    any boot is good @ any position EXCEPT for the Vapors in the back/keeping. I just think that there's too much traffic i.e. tackling, ballwinning in the air etc. You just need something that will hold up.

    Lots of keepers wear Pulses to get that extra power behind their goalkicks, has great traxion as well. Earlier in the season Middlesbourgh keeper, wore Vapours, might be good cos it don't drag you down when u go upfor a catch. Need to accelerate if a back pass has been made short

    pulses don't give you extra distance on goal kicks though, i think the previous preds actually maybe have added in pace on the ball (Pred ACcelerator and prior)

    I personally think that Defence should go for something that has thicker leather or skin or whatever it's called cause all the tackling and rubbing needs a lot of protection.. Most keepers use AZTs(whichever version) and Pulses. I would personally go for either pulses OR F50 for defence if I can afford them :( Right now, I'll just stick to my Manias for another 2-3 years :eek:

    Why are you under the impression Pulses give ou extra kicking power? It's just a football boot. Just like the islands which are suppose to give you more power and swerve, that again is just a gimmick.

    not really a gimmick, it depends on technique.. where u hit the ball. the predator island's sweet spot is not nessicerially the sweet spot for everyone.

    Well, I think you could call it a gimmick in the sense that the company are saying you'll get more swerve and power if you use these boots. When all it comes down to is your technique as you said.

    To be honest, I used to be using a USD$20 boot before changing to a USD$100 boot. Although it takes a while to get used to my new Adidas Predator Mania, it's safe to say that I'm really happy with it and after getting use to it, the pred islands actually helps. It shows me where to kick the ball to get the most kick out of it. Plus, the pred islands are actually much thinner than anyone thought...not just a thick piece of rubber. it is actually thinner than the leather.. Rolling the ball with those islands feel like rolling the ball with your own hands... It feels great and when you kick, you can 'feel' where the ball is going to end up at.

    With my 20 dollar boot, I doubt I can do any of this. However, I do believe that swearving is all down to techniques and can someone please teach me? :p

    depends on who u are actually...

    heres my tech..

    when i kick the ball i move my foot in the direction i want it to bed, so i move the ankle. so my foot is kind of conforming to the ball... it works for me.. dont know bout u

    Seems to me you've fallen for what the company are saying, 'the weight of the boot has been redistributed to the foot so u get more power from the boot', please. The power comes from your legs and body not a pair of football boots. And yes I don't have a pair, and yes I could have got a pair, but decided to use a boot which felt more comfy to me. I'm simply saying boots do not make a player, it's technique and hardwork which make a good player, a boot is just there for comfort.

    Oh and as for footballing history, a club winning the F.A. Cup is footballing history not a pair of football boots.

    What would u know, u get a pair, play in them then come back with a reasonable arguement, until then u can't say a thing about them which will have any real meaning

    PS if a boot was there for comfort i'd buy some carpet slippers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I somehow think YOUR argument is not reasonable not mine. I mean you actually believe all this tripe that these boots will make you swerve a ball better, have more power. What bull. Hell if your good enough you could play in whatever you want. Swerving a ball is about technique and harder shots/more power is to do with you building up your leg muscles, not a pair of boots. By the way I suggest you buy some carpet slippers aswell! Maybe work on your technique and your game and you'll realise it's not the boots.
