... will they ever come back?? If so, when?
Both have been away from the field a long time now but I havent heard any news of them coming back any time soon. Anybody know exactly when they are expected to return?

    Peru y tu?

Both will probably keep making "comebacks". Play one game; miss the next 12. With Scholl it's just really sad, he probably would have been one of Germany's best players ever. Deisler's purchase was a mistake from the beginning, maybe even a disaster.

Since Scholl is now in his thirties and has a contiuing problem with injuries, I doubt that he will ever be a day-to-day contributer. I'm sure at this point Bayern looks at anything they can get out of Scholl as a bonus. And I would not be surprised if they sold him or did not renew his contract at some point. Or Scholl might just retire, being sick of the constant injuries. Scholl could have been an all time German great, but injuries have prevented that. It is sad, but a reality.

In Deisler's case, I think there is still hope. He is still young and he still might get over the injury bug. And I doubt that his problem with depression will be a long term, on-going thing. If Deisler can get his head/heart straight, and work out his body (pump some iron, perhaps?) so that it can take the Bundesliga pounding (I don't think Scholl's small frame could take it), he can still be a star and a tremendous asset to Bayern and Germany.

But in either case (Scholl or Deisler), I don't think anyone should hold their breath.

Look for Trochowski to emerge, or Schweinstieger to continue to blossom, or for some other future Bayern signing, to fill the creative play-maker vacancy.

Real Madrid's Raul mentioned before the Champions League match to "kicker" magazine that he thought Scholl was the best German player. Whether that's because we hardly have any good players that's another thing...

Scholl will make a comeback if this latest bout with injuries doesn't force him to retire however expect him to get injured again in the near future.

Deisler will rejoin full training in a few days and will hopefully play a competitive match at some time in the near future.
