Stop me if you've heard this before - Kochen the third keeper today for the big boys, against Sevilla. Szczesny was signed as referenced above and is presumably the designated backup.
Barcelona director closely tracking La Masia duo’s development amid search for club veteran’s replacement
The camera angle made it tough to follow, but Pedro seemed anonymous—which is not a good look for a Barcelona pivot (if indeed that is his role.) But for the most of the game Barcelona lacked their usual control, so I can assume he was not particularly effective.
Kochen had a couple of nice confident and surehanded saves that he should make and one highlight reel save that should have been a goal. Like a lot of American keepers, he clearly has the athleticism down. What I like was his comfortability on the ball. No panic. No hesitation. Proper technique and executed most of his passes. Basically... I wasn't holding my breath, peaking through my fingers - like I do with Steffan (and other USMNT GK's) - anticipating a mistake when the ball is at their feet.

This interview gives me hope these kids will develop and stick with us. They are getting close. 2026 is going to be tough. The only one that has a remote chance is Kochen.
On the bench but again presumably third keeper against Real Betis. He will at least get to see Johnny play.
