Since he's about 13, we'll have to assume he is either a Spanish citizen or his parents moved for non-football reasons.

An article stating that Kochen's father is Venezuelan and his mother is Peruvian:

Diego Kochen, el estadounidense que le pertenece al Barcelona

Also contains a tweet mentioning how he was called up to the USA U-17s last month:

Difficult to say without knowing his exact stat, but so far it's not looking like height is going to be an issue for this goalkeeper. Especially considering he only just turned 16 last week.

I've clicked throw. As could have been expected the whole game was on the opposite side. Still, the kid is really fast. And though not relevant to this thread, Gil has a cannon of the foot.

Promising kid. If he stays in Spain for 10 years he can also apply for Spanair citizenship. I hope we continue to keep him involved in our program.

He moved to Barca in 2019. So if he obtains Spanish citizenship via the 10 year route he’d be 26 or so by that time. If your reference to ‘our program’ is the US Nats, then I can’t imagine he would wait until he’s 26 to try for Spain’s national team. He is likely to remain with the US.

The Peruvian soccer press is also monitoring him very closely, FWIW.

I thought he moved at a younger age. Good to hear he just moved a couple of years ago.

Promising kid. According to the original post, he's a 2006 who moved to Barcelona in 2019 at age 13. So after 10 years in Spain, he'd be 23.

Yes. You’re right. My math was wrong. That makes me a little nervous that he could look around if Peru or Venezuela (if i recall the heritage of his dad) come calling. Slonina could make it hard for a generation of US keepers to get time with the Nats if he turns out to be as good as many think he will.
