Bruce knew that TT's little cheap antics in the box wont work against physcial and talented defenders. He went with pure size on this one and i'd have to agree with him.

That's sick. So what, you want McBride injured so that TT can get a chance to suck at the Cup?

You Revs fans are fooking ridiculous.

Oh, great, like we need more Twellman-Revs blashing from Twellman haters.

Man, I have a feeling this thread is gonna be a droozy, that's for sure.

    Re: Taylor Twellman an alternate?

No, he is just not good enough.

No, he chose ching beause he didn't look at anyone else

Except this season and except it doesn't matter--it's about the international game.

No, Bruce's first mistake was giving such a looooooooooooong look at Twellman; it sort of stuck us with Ching.

    You hope players get injured?

    Too bad I can't "personally" attack you . . . .

I think this is the key right here. I was surprised at first by Ching over TT, but BA has shown that he has a preference for a true McB-like big man. I think that TT sort of does the target thing, but not in the way Bruce wants for this team. Add to that spotty production at the int'l level = Ching in Germany.

    thank you.

Also TT rarely creates goals on his own or at least it seems so...its like he needs perfect service to score a goal...

    Re: Taylor Twellman an alternate?

I'm not a huge TT fan, but nor am I a huge TT critic, but accept he has limitations to his game, but can also bring something to a game. Overall I'm disappointed -not that TT is a terrific player but he does have one rare thing going for him -he's a goal scorer and has a nose for goal. I think he has the right to feel a little put out.

What he hasn't got is that he's not a playmaker (like a Landon Donovan is) and he needs service to score. Once he doesn't get it, he tends to disappear from the game. I can't argue against someone who says he is more of a one dimensional player -thing is though, he's pretty good in that one dimension and goals win games. Give him three chances to score and he'll score, not too many forwards you can say that about. There is no doubt he has definitely suffered from poor service recently with the Revs, and even some of the US games he's been given 1 1/2 chances all game as the midfield disappears.

Overall, I think I would have picked him simply because he could win a game -perhaps not a solid starter, but worthy of a sub role. There aren't too many players like that, and honestly, from the admittedly scarce number of games I've seen Ching and Johnson play, they don't look that much better if at all. Yes, you could argue that he's not WC calibre, but then couldn't you argue most of the US team aren't? Let's hope this doesn't come back to haunt BA.

More so Ching, and really, what forward on our team creates his own service?

I took issue with a Twellman supporter who said he was hoping some of the other forwards got injured. Regardless of which players you support, hoping that any of the USMNT players get injured is sick and I don't think I'm alone when I say that has no place on this board.

The fact that you would see my response as "blashing from Twellman haters" proves that you are a clown.

I don't see any Berholter fans wishing ill upon Eddie Lewis or Gooch?

Twellman fans, don't take his exclusion personally. Other than McBride all the other strikers we have SUCK. Bruce simply put 7 names in a hat and drew 3. Could have easily been EJ, Twellman & Rolfe.

    umm yea..ur right.

good point...then i guess Ching is simply bigger.

I feel so sorry for TT, he is such a likable star. I also feel that O'brien was a bit a gamble. Maybe Arena just sees his obvious talent and hopes that 5 weeks of training will help.

I hope Arena is on the phone with Bradley talkin about playin time with Chivas

McBride and Rolfe are the only forwards who have not sucked.

Yeah, maybe I need to chill.

I just didn't think the injury comment was cool though. That stuff's just not right. I wouldn't wish injuries on any of these players (even those on our opponents)... And "Craig P" started neg repping me for pointing that out. Neg repped because I don't want to see injuries?

    Just another day on bigsoccer.

I took issue also; you are not alone.

    With a capital C.

It's to the point that the vast majority his posts are incredibly boring; if more people didn't have him on thier ignore list, there would be a lot more b!tching about his contribution to N&A.

    Nor do I.

Ummm....didn't you make a post on one of the sticky threads asking moderators to be harsh on people who were calling you names...I remember that post b/c I was wondering how someone who reps The Stuy can be so sensitive.

That's stupid, a backup to a backup can never contribute more than a backup.

Ching and Twellman are garbage. Rolfe is much more talented than either of those two players, but if he was a year older, he'd be starting for this squad. Right now, I think Rolfe is a little bit raw, and needs to develop some more consistency.

    Re: Taylor Twellman an alternate?

i'm sorry. Brian Ching AND Josh Wolff, but no Taylor Twellman? Ching has looked like crap on a stick in all international play for the past year, and Wolff could barely score on an open net against a severly injured and rebuilding Crew last weekend.
give me a break, Bruce. what the hell were you thinking?
