Did the MLS and Garber miss the boat by not running ads during WC games on ESPN/ABC?

I say yes. 6 million watch team USA at 7am and MLS can't get their network to run puff pieces on Landycakes and Buddle at least?

    Ugggghhh smells like the NHL.

Why are you lumping Garber into this? He was on this morning talking about MLS.

He's the Comish... Just like Obama's the prez...
This morning yes, last 2 weeks when ESPN runs the same docu crap day after day? A piece on new stadiums, or how SLC won the title as an underdog or something would have been an impression on people who think the sport is lame.

    Just sayin'

Funny, I saw some ad talking about 90 minutes and showing teams that looked like the Galaxy, Sounders, and Crew multiple times in the last couple of weeks I must have been hallucinating or something.

I must have been on the same drugs, cause I saw that too, along with local ads for the Wizards-United friendly...

Guess they ran ad's where they have active teams...?
That works i guess, but it seems if you want to grow a sport you might need to hit people in markets lacking a team in order to gain viewership?

It's like owning a car but buying a new one, vs. being car less and still taking public transit, in a city like Houston...

I'm pretty sure the 90 minutes ad was a national ad. There are also Rapids ads running in the local market here.

Rename the Galaxy to the LA Donovan's and the red bulls to the NY Henry's or Handball NY :)

That would give both teams a boost.

So you don't think the success of MLS and former MLS players was advertisement enough?

Or how about the mention of future/possible MLS players during broadcast?

I don't think they missed a boat at all.

Without a doubt. Air some MLS adds and some World Cup game ticket promotions
