I was just curious if either team unveiled their new looks today at the MLS Draft. San Jose wasn't supposed to be too earth-shaking (pardon the pun), but Colorado's are not only a new supplier but it has a completely different color scheme. Any news?

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Hmm... while the new Earthquakes home jersey is nowhere near as distinctive (in a positive way) as the 2000-2002 Earthquakes home jersey, it's still light years better than any of the old Clash jerseys! :)

See, to me that looks like the Kansas City shirt with different trim and a different logo. Sometimes I think MLS has swung the jersey pendulum too far back from the Jackson Pollock Doritos uniforms of 1996. It doesen't look bad, but...

I think each team should pick a theme/colors, come up with 3-4 variations on the theme each year, and let the fans of the clubs vote for their faves. That way you still get new jerseys every year, but they don't all look like someone else's. I can't imagine that's too expensive to do. Maybe it is.

The problem is, the teams and their fans don't get much of a say. The decision comes down to nike execs who have no sense of style.

that and the fact that the style of the jersey is currently all Nike is making.

changes colors for teams as necessary.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Quite frankly, who cares whether an MLS team has the same uniform design as a Manchester United or an AC Milan or any other team that's not in MLS?

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp What's important is that each MLS team is distinctive from each other, and in Nike's defense, each Nike-supplied 2003 MLS uniform looks nothing like each other in both colors and in design.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp As an Earthquakes fan, my only concern as far as distinctiveness of jerseys is that, as art mentioned earlier in this thread, the Quakes home jersey looks a bit too similar to the Wizards' home jersey. Granted, the Wizards' uniform is supplied by Adidas, but it shouldn't be a problem as only the home team will be wearing its home jersey when the two teams play each other.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Colorado's home jersey may also look similar to the Earthquakes', but again, only one of them will be wearing its home jersey when they meet.

I could care less if the rest of the world dropped off the face of said earth, for that matter.

No they don't, it's a much lighter shade of blue IMO. I'm only worried about Colorado. They're proposed color scheme is almost identical to San Jose.

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp :D

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Believe it or not, Nike has actually gotten better at making distinctive uniforms within MLS: of the Nike-supplied MLS teams in 1997-1999, San Jose and Dallas had the exact same uniform design, as did the MetroStars/Tampa Bay/Los Angeles - only Chicago's jerseys were truly distinctive!

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp The 1996 Nike MLS designs were slightly less cookie-cutter from each other, but it was made for in sheer and utter gaudiness. :(

Look at the picture of the holiday card with the snowman wearing the new Rapids shirt. It doesn't look like the Quakes

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Good thing I had said "Colorado's home jersey may also look similar to the Earthquakes' " :D

I knew the design was going to be like that. It was a matter of color scheme...I'm not bothered by it, but it was nice to have a team who had a distinct color (green in this case) for more than a few years, and who didn't resemble two other teams in the league.

I like both San Jose's new shirt and Colorado's new shirt(if that's it). It is a shame that both of them now have the same color scheme exactly, though. The 4 league games might look like intrasquad games. Let's see, LA switched to Jamaica colors. SJ's new shirt will look pretty classy with the standard home black shorts. Colorado is now Inter Milan-like, ho-hum. This all leaves KC as the only solid blue. Metros change to a boring (although vastly improved) HS badge and thinner stripes (a bad move, the bold stripes were great). Chicago muted the screaming "F I R E!" a hair, moves to white shoulder stripes, and the baseball standard of putting the city name on the road uni(in case anyone forgetts). Now if the Fire would just copy the MISL Pheonix Inferno and put the twin high-test alcohol burning flame throwers up on the back standards of each goal, that would be perfect! As a fan it was always bad news when they went off, but it was still awesome to see and hear the 10 ft. flames,"...now, that's a fire."

I agree, MLS or soccer in the US in general has to find it's own way if it ever really wants to take off.

    All Reved Up

Maybe he's thinking,"oh crap, I got selected a lot higher than I thought, now I have to work my tail off to justify it. I just hope Joe-Max doesn't sign."
