Wow. I'd would have never expected this from Daniel. Really shows how much he cares and upset he is over his and the team's situation.
Yeah that was a twitter tantrum. Does he really think his free kick service has been adequate? This team is struggling to score in the run of play. That leaves scoring from set pieces. With his service on set pieces, the team has no chance of scoring. How can he not realize this? Either way that was an interesting read and thoughts from 3rd Degree. DH needs to realize he his appreciated now and has always been, otherwise he wouldn't have been signed to be a coach. Just guilt tripping people into feeling bad for him.
Ha laughable attitude. That's the former captain and now player-coach eh? So what exactly does he think here, that despite being the weakest player in the starting 11, he is above criticism and being subbed out? The comment on Buzz's site about having to play everyday to prove yourself couldn't be more true, especially as an aging player trying to show you still belong. If this is the attitude the leader in the clubhouse has, no wonder this team is rudderless. The only part I agree with is he needs to worry about getting healthy, because if he is playing injured, it's not working for him or the team. Time to step back, get healthy or retire.
I always thought he and Schellas were tight, due to the old SMU connection and the current player-coach situation. But if Hyndman has lost Hernandez, of all people, it is really long past time to fire Hyndman. I'm not saying Hernandez is right about any of this; it's an immature whine and he's not good enough to be playing. But the fact that Schellas has mismanaged him on and off the field badly enough to lead to this is Hyndman's fault.
Horrible attitude. Extremely disappointed, but I'm sure he's at least as frustrated as we are, and hope he gets put in his place by coach and teammates, and that this is his last twitter tantrum...
Terrible attitude by Hernandez. I realize this is the low point of an increasingly lost season but this is the time the "Captain" needs to stand up and be accounted for, and not whine late into the night on Twitter. That's more like a crybaby 20 year old than an experienced 36 year old vet. Plus, if he had any common sense he would realize his free kicks are terrible....going on 1 and 1/2 years now (didn't Ferreira used to take them? It's been so long since he played I can't remember). Consistently terrible. Hyndman should have taken that responsibility away from him eons ago, and that falls on the coach.
Hopefully this is just the moment where DH finally had to confront his diminished production on the field. In that case, I feel for him and hope he understands that what really has happened is that Hyndman appreciated him TOO much, and that his aging knees let him down and nothing else. I'm inclined to cut him a little slack, especially given that he's hardly throwing a wrench into a smooth-running engine. It's completely on Hyndman to fix this. He's mentally lost Benitez, John, maybe Brek and DF10, and now cracks are showing with DH. It's not college where the entire roster turns over every 4 years, no one has time to truly get sick of your crap, and anyway players have few options for moving teams. Hyndman needs to do some soul searching and figure out how to manage professionals who can be here for 5 or more years and have options if they don't want to be. Something is off when a tough spate of injuries results in a nosedive rather than a scrappy struggle.
Hard to believe this team went from MLS Cup contender to Twitter tantrum throwers. Just when we think we've hit the bottom, we just keep going.
This is the most asinine thing I've heard in a long time and on several fronts. 1. Daniel - do you really feel aggrieved because you were replaced on set pieces? Any objective person would say you are horrible at free kicks, and I bet your teammates would've made the switch a long time ago if they had any say in the matter...the fans would have made the switch even sooner perhaps. You feel like you have to prove yourself? That's probably because you realize inside that you are the weakest of the starting XI and are unable to contribute in a meaningful way any longer. A real leader would be able to see that you are hurting the team by playing (allegedly) injured when there are healthy backups and take themselves out of the starting XI. It's not saying you aren't a warrior; it's being honest with yourself for the best of the team. 2. Hyndman - are you fricking kidding me? Learn that loyalty is not the end all, be all. Started off with the awkward Guarda trade, a wash trade to bring another SMU guy when we already had a largely equal player in that same position (Moor), then a strange continued starting of Hernandez AND continuing to let him have set piece duty when he has been sh!t all year. And we have a farkload of DM's...how is an injured (or even a healthy) Hernandez helping us more than a healthy Marcelin, AJ, Guarda or even Ulloa? Let's all put on our big boy pants and see the situation for what it is - a distinguish and respected player at the twilight of his career and a coach who needs to grow some balls and put said player on the bench for the best of the team.
* Hernadez IS injured. There is no "allegation" of this. Im sure Hernandez would have splashed some of the knee drainage (probably gallons over the last 2 years) in the face of a few posters on here if you'd have said such things to his face * I've seen a ton of set piece goals let in this year and most all were the marks of our midfielders but i only remember maybe 1 being Hernandez' fault * Without Ugo or John it is clear that there is nobody else on the field besides him and Hartman who have any DESIRE let let alone the knowledge needed to organize the team. *The team has a horrid record With those realities in mind are we really gonna out and out vilify the guy who only THIS YEAR exited this clubs "elite" consistent performers list which also includes Hartman, John, Ugo, and DF. Are we forgetting he was the FOUNDING member of said club? Look had coach called him to the sidelines and informed him of the change and DH revolted and sulked Id understand the outrage but it seems to me it was Hyndman who really showed his true colors by making that switch when and how he did. Was that move not also made in frustration? Translated into tweets what would those very public actions have said about his player (read: the club)? We all know Hyndman needed to make that decision in the locker room or practice field MONTHS ago not by enlisting Jackson to do his bidding in tied ballgame. The only thing that even remotely worries me about the outburst is the potential ramifications regarding this player/coach contract he signed.
No one's arguing he shouldn't be upset, but did it necessitate the Twitter outburst? I think that's what most of us are saying.
Apparently DH forgot to tell his family to not read Big Soccer. DH is well loved by the fans, but his service has been terrible, and his reaction to Jackson taking the corner at the end of the Chivas match was the sort of thing expected from a petulant teenager, not the smart professional he is. Following it up with a twitter outburst that was on par with a rejected prom date was just the icing on the cake, and he wisely pulled those messages back. At the end of the day, he earned the criticism he got here, and he's earned the love he's gotten here as well, but you're not helping his case much to be honest.
Hello my name is Daniel and I'm fking frustrated...about EVERYTHING..my health, my game, my team, my coach...im bout to loose it should I A: invoke the spirit of Benitez and earn quick red like last time B: invoke the spirit of spreewell and choke the coach C: invoke the spirit of the American public and grin while I take it up the a$$like a good lil wage earner D:take myself out and go home and twitter rant in between spending time with my family Now im not really defending him so much as presenting a different perspective as personally I think D was the wrong way to go (I think twitter is lame)
Someone presenting a differing viewpoint challenging the BS consensus has to be a family member??.. where have I seen that before on this board? Funny part is I happen to agree with everything you said, but regardless there was no need to format diarrhea into an introductory sentence.
Twitter fit? Not that impressive. Yeah its been a difficult year, and a year that will require some hard decisions at its conclusion. I think most of us felt that getting our MLS POY back, as well as a a more experienced Brek and Castillo, and the big acquisition of Blas would get us back into contention. But, we have had sh!t for luck. If we could get all of our roster pieces back on the field and in form, I still think we kick any team's SS. This is going to be a swan song for many roster pieces. I cut DH more than a little slack for all of the heart and soul he has put into this team over the years. He is a proud warrior, but Father Time always wins. It isn't an easy thing to come to grips with. Sorry for him that he decided to vent in public, but given that he took the stuff down I think that people are making too big a deal out of it. Replacing DH on the roster next year is going to be a hell of a task, and in all likelihood, an expensive proposition. De Jong anyone?
Well, I know I threw a fit for every single one of his corners. Heck the first one Leyva took a few weeks ago was better than anything he has put in play from a set piece all season and probably including last year as well. He is a very good player and a key part of FCD, that doesn't mean he can't be replaced on free kick duties and still be a very valuable team member and 1A captain. He shouldn't have reacted as he did and sure as hell shouldn't have taken it to a public temper tantrum forum. He won't be hard to replace, Jacobson can replace him very easily, make DF10 a true CAM, Jackson on right, Shea on left, Castillo up top with Blas, same back 4 personnel.
Unbelievably unprofessional from a supposed leader on this team. Perhaps Daniel is part of the problem and not part of the solution.
Was on a trip and just saw this. Hate to see it as the guy has given a lot but either age or injury or both has hampered his play this year. I agree with Josh Turnbuckle on 3rd degree when he says "Hernandez will go down as the club’s 2nd generation Leonel Alvarez – and that might be the highest compliment you can pay the man." With Oscar gone I believed he was our coach of the future. Hope that's not all gone with his venting during a very frustrating season.
I like Twitter. I like DH. I don't like DHs set piece kicks. I don't blame DH for being mad. I don't blame Jackson for wanting to take the kicks. I do blame Advocare!
His corners were absolute s*** today and his FK's weren't much better. He had one decent FK outside the box when Brek got fouled. If you're going to go off on twitter like that you better back it up, which he didn't. He shouldn't be taking corners or FK's,and it's quite sad he is.
I blame the coach just as much. When your team hasn't won a game in 11 tries you change things up. How many of the ties or losses would be wins and ties with a goal from a free kick? How many teams foul our players knowing they don't have to worry about a goal coming from the ensuing free kick?
