And this was the solution? I thank you for coming here and shedding light and providing a little inside info, but was there really no way to "fix" those issues without making such a huge change in layout and functionality? It was simple to use. Now it is not...and the fact that people may get used to it won't change the fact that before, it was simpler because we were already used to it. I don't like having to "get used" to things in my leaisure time. I'm already still trying to get used to my new "airline of choice" after their merge a year ago. I'm already having to get used the new website from the very company I work for. I'm already having to get used to my "new" diet becuase I turned 40. I now have to get used to the new facebook timeline because it is being forced on me and yes, I do use facebook. I don't want to have to do that here too. And I think most people that have been here loyaly for so long, may think the same.
I hear ya - I have a facebook account but still have avoided the whole timeline thing. No idea about it. It would be cool if we could have an option like that where you could pick and choose what changes you went along with like on FB. Or transfer over at your leisure. I guess I'm sorta used to making adjustments especially when it comes to technology. It wasn't all that long ago that I was on a giant brick of a palm phone and now can do so much more on an iPhone. Same thing with my Apple OS and computer.
I'll throw my hat in on the slow problems, a lot of times I was getting a bunch of No Data Received pages and BigSoccer was a huge contributor to those, with Wikipedia being 2nd. What I just hate is drastic change to the nth degree.
Its not just change-- the cosmetics really are kind of annoying. Its the lack of definintion between things-- just a bold line between posts would be a huge improvement. Or perhaps all the greyed out stuff will be bold when alls done? (I also hope that I wont have to scroll through ten pages of posts I've already read to get it to recognise my real "first unread." At the moment it's got me in late February or early March...)
BTW, its much faster and more reliable here-- I was having page changes hang fire for 30 sec to a minute constantly...
Not too elegant, but mark all forums read and then as new posts come in you can jump right to "first unread".
OK, your sig line is the worst. This is exactly the kind of cluttering up that I was afraid would happen with a new software.
Everything is clean and simple and in need of a little polish, so my new BSG Robotron "Ernst Thälmann" Sömmerda avatar fits in pretty well. Yes, there are some things that we will all need to get used to. The font is different, und ein bisschen kleiner. Friends are now called followers. You just rep without a comment. I am sure some of these things can be tweaked a little. One thing I do like is that you can now copy and paste text into the input box without it taking strange characteristics and sizes - I really did hate that. I did like the old school look of the previous incarnation, but if the admins said the place was a-creakin', it is their responsibility to make sure that they grease the axles a little. It's a whole lot better that arriving here only to see that the whole thing has done a Hansa Rostock.
Yeah. I'd like to negrep that, just on the basis of the signature alone. But apparently negrep is gone. It's all sunshine and moonbeams here now.
Yep, I've seen these kind of sigs on other boards and they always get way out of hand. Kill this now before that happens.
Do we have the function here that you can click a button and get the list of the most recently replied to threads like we've had in the past?
The new rep system is atrocious. I "liked" that only the recipient was able to see who repped what message.
