Somehow I'm a little bit nervous ahead of this match. It's a brisant derby in a sold-out stadium (33,000), we've rarely managed to win in Aachen in the past, our players will be confronted with 32 (+ x) degrees Celsius tomorrow and have the CL quali match on Tuesday at the back of their minds. Nearby it's always tough to play against good 3rd league teams (just remember the problems we faced in Heidenheim & Regensburg the last 2 seasons), especially when they got the advantage of having already played 5 league games.

Hopefully, our team won't have to play 120 minutes and nobody picks up an injury. I don't understand why we didn't get allowed to play tonight, when knowing about our important CL quali game on Tuesday ... but well, what can you expect from those DFL morons? After all, we aren't Bayern, Dortmund or Schalke.

PS: Do you remember this guy, Naz?

2-0 win! Goals by Arango and Nordtveit. I didn't see the first, but the second was near the beginning of second-half stoppage time and was the product of a great counterattack.

Ofc I do. ;) And I'm very relieved we didn't pick up any injuries (even though Rösler tried hard on Arango  ) and managed to avoid an overtime (incredible 37 degrees Celsius on the pitch!!!) with regard to our important match on Tuesday night.

    Hurry up.

Great Arango show (superb goal + assist). Luuk de Jong missed a 100 % chance after the interval, but his assist for Arango's 1:0 was amazing. Hopefully he saved his first goal in our dress for Tuesday...

Thanks for posting the highlights. It is great to see the team in action again. Yes, what was that tackle from behind on Arango? Lucky there was not an injury. From the highlights, it appeared Gladbach were the better team. I have the DVR set up for Tuesday - thanks Fox Sports!

Thanks for the highlights, not sure where u found it but it was pretty long with good quality.Seems like De Jong is either a bit kindda nervous..or needs to find his foot on the ground with gladbach...i expected more speed and without the ball action from him...i just hope we didnt spend all this money on a player that may not deliver ..specially that amount of money!
Even tho he was the reason arango scored and his pass thru such tight space had maximum precision but still ...am not sold on him, as much as before the season i was hoping he would join us and he would be a perfect fit for us!
Something else that bothers me is not using Mr.Reliable more often.Rowel is a solid player with scoring ability...but ever since favre took over seems like he cant find a solid position in the team for him...i think he should be among our starting 11!

The much better team. Aachen didn't have single scoring chance, the difference in class was visible. We had the chances to decide the game early; it just took too long until we actually scored. The finishing must be better against Dynamo.

Naz, I absolutely don't like your attitude concerning this matter. Seriously, I don't like it when a player (who also joined us late and had to recover from an adenoids surgery) is being judged after just 1 official game (Cup). He's already become many fans' "darling" even without scoring in those few friendlies & on Saturday.

Unfortunately, Roel (whom I like very much as well) doesn't have international experience like Stranzl & Dominguez (both CB's even played CL before), so it's quite obvious why he doesn't start. But we know that he accepts this and has always been very reliable when we needed him.

Just got worst, so its not a home-game....oh well seems like its one of those seasons...out of all the teams...we got the toughest outfit, but i think its a great tool for LF to really evaluate his players and how he can find the best combination of players in order to get good results...so am hoping from these tough games...at least something very valuable will be extracted for lucin favre:)

Well, it's a DERBY ... so everything can happen. We've already played in Düsseldorf this season (0:0) ... but this time, there will be more than 50,000 and not just 30,000 at stadium. Difficult task for us despite Fortuna's latest poor results, hopefully we can take advantage of the moral boost from Hanover.

Btw: I still don't know whether our game or that of Bayern (vs Lautern) will be shown on free tv tomorrow night.

    I
will not have the chance...since one game is broadcasted and once again our Cup clash coincides with Hollywoods match at the same time...and of course that game will be preferred:(
Luckily i can watch our league fixture against Maiz tho..since its the late Sunday game:)

I was almost sure by introducing Mlapa,Hanke and Xhaka...we would break fortuna...but eventually i was starting to worry about a PK shoot out ...but seems like we are crashing in over time...and trailing by 1:(

I think we also hold the record for losing games through the hands of x-Gladbacher's
This time it was no other than Nando Rafael,am not so upset...we are trend setters in that sense :)
Seemed like a hard fought 120 min,had to follow it online without visuals and on live ticker..I guess it was a good alarm that we are still vulnerable despite our recent positive drive..hopefully this loss will give us the motivation needed to keep pushing hard and try to wrap all 3 points at the park this weekend:)
Am still shocked tho...introducing three strong offensive minded players such as Xhaka,Mlapa and Hanke must have turned the tides in our favour ...but football does not work like that:(
Congrats to fortunas coach Norbert Mayer which also was a Gladbacher as well!

    Just gets better
Seems like we had literally a handful of opportunities in front of the goal that we simply cold not convert:(
One on ones, including Arango,Hermann and De Camargo...and neither where converted:(

I counted 9 top chances during the whole game, 5-6 of them alone in the first half (which we totally dominated) ... but well, if you miss your scoring opportunities so carelessly (De Camargo & Herrmann pissed me off a lot) and stop playing football after 45 minutes (were they already tired after the hard-fought match in Hanover?), there's no reason to complain. Just our own fault that we crushed out (even though the referee denied us a pk in overtime). I know it's not easy to play a game every 3rd day (Thursday-Sunday-Wednesday) and do understand the fatigue towards the end ... however, if our guys took their chances in the first half, the match would have been decided after 45 minutes. That's football sometimes. In Hanover, we created clearly less scoring opportunities ... but managed to score 3 goals within 9 minutes. That's the difference. And it's quite obvious that our game grows & falls with Arango's shape. Unfortunately he was poor last night (also causing an unnecessary pk 5 minutes before the end of regular time, saved by MATS).

I wish MATS wouldn't have saved that pk, so we crushed out after 90 minutes ... since these exhausting 120 mins might hurt us against Freiburg on Saturday.

    On
Only have access to ZDF ( which absolutely sucks) & Dubai sport channels for the moment..and they only cover one bundesliga game a week...which is better than nothing..the Internet is useless here as well..due to slow speed..so i can not watch our games online either :( anyway i read the break down after the game..and it was frustrating to hear and read..the likes of de Camargo and Herrmann not being able to take advantage of such opportunities...at least one out of the 9 you mention...can't blame Arango..the guy is pretty much carrying us thru each game at the moment,am glad the nordveit Marx tandem is finally giving us some stability..it's really time for our offensive players to creat the needed storm...I am worried now if this 120 min game will effect us against Frienburg ? Hopefully the wind has not abandoned our sails by this POKAL defeat:(
