Cagey match, and Augsburg started better. But I'm really happy with the last 20 minutes. We grew into it nicely. Nice ball from Demirovic. After the egg he laid over the weekend, it's good to see he didn't overcompensate and try and press and overdo things. We need him to be a lot better than his performances of late (I'm sure Sebastian has gotten that particular message across to him).
I have it from a solid source (my fevered imagination), that Hoeness reads our thread and takes our advice.
Into the final four thanks to Deniz the Menace and a nice, professional performance. I wouldn't call us electric this evening. Just really organized and solid. Super happy. Furchtlos und Treu!
Millot limping off. He landed on the ball really hard. I think he likely took a shot to the jewels or maybe the solar plexus. That can look a heck of a lot worse than it is, so let's hope that's the extent of it.
Getting the wind knocked out of you is very painful (I know from personal experience!), but you'll be over it in a day, if not hours. Let's hope that's all it is!
There's a lot of demand for him, that's for sure. I hope it doesn't turn out that way. But careers are short. You must make it when you can. So, if he gets a big money offer we can't match there isn't much to be said about it. I'd love to see us put some of that Porsche and Mercedes money to work and stay in the game more when the poachers come around, though.
Great half. Not surprising, but after all the ups and downs this season, nothing was guaranteed today. Now to see this one out.
Yeah, it's not time for anyone to take the result for granted. There's still 45 minutes left and Bielefeld beat 4 BL teams to get here. VfB!
We're following the same strategy as Pascal Jansen pursued with New York City FC against Red Bull in the latest Hudson River Derby: let them have the ball on the assumption they won't know what to do with it and then counter.
They definitely know what to do with it! They almost scored in the 3rd minute, but were denied by the crossbar. If they'd taken the lead, I think the game might look different.
Very, very similar to the HRD. I think Red Bull hit the crossbar in the fourth minute against us, almost exactly the same scenario. And the possession was something like 70/30 for the first 60 minutes and then gradually crept back to even, which is what we're seeing now. Which makes sense. Up 4-0, it's time to play keep away and tell them to come and get it.
That own goal was suboptimal. This squad just isn't happy unless they're turning my hair gray and making it fall out. I mean, LOOK AT ME.
