I guess I have to be the one to get this party started - first round began on Friday & will end on Monday
So far, HSV is the biggest causality losing to Carl Zeiss Jena (IV) 3-2 AET. If you want more info, goto this link

Major props goes out to CZ Jena. From beginning to end, they played with greater motivation and determination. HSV's first goal should have been disallowed, as the ball had already went out of bounds before Ilicevic made the cross. But at the end of the day, it was a well deserved victory for the underdogs.

The Sportschau channel on Youtube is also a good source for Pokal highlights, with coverage on most of the games from this weekend. Hope they continue to upload videos throughout the Bundesliga season.

The Vfl Osnabrueck vs RasenBallsport Leipzig game as officially canceled! After the referee Petersen had been hit by a missile from the VfL block on the head (71), the referees interrupt this entertaining Cup encounter. No glorious end for such a great evening of football in the Osnatel Arena! :( Crazy Germans

It's been quite an eventful and intense opening round. Shots were fired prior to the Arminia Bielefeld-Hertha Berlin game. Literally!

With apologies to any Leverkusen fans out there, it would be an absolute riot to see Unterhaching pull off yet another upset and make it to the quarterfinals. Their fan shop is selling shirts that say "Five more wins to Europe" then have the Five crossed off, and "Four" written in. It's pretty funny.

That being said, Stuttgart got just about the best possible draw they could hope for. Though this Stuttgart team could easily crash out against Braunschweig. Eeek.
