This is a very close game. I think that Germany will score a couple goals in the second half...

From what I was reading on the Kicker-ticker  Germany could have won by even more than 3 goals. Seemed to be a pretty dominant performance by the national elf.

Very well. Though Kamerun's offence was not existing. ;-)

Btw, Mertesacker is IMHO Germany's most promising defender. Watch out.

Midfield. Mostly on the right side/wing.

Yes. But can play on both wings or central attacking midfield. Versatile player.

jonam--could you do some player analysis/ rankings--if you have not already started? If you are not too tired?

Actually Schneiders position was rightback against Eto´o who played left striker, but he had much opportunities to go forward, because Eto´o didn´t play well.

I have watched the match, yes - but had some work to do on my PC, so I didn't catched the whole match. I'll try....

Lehmann: I fear he could have catched a cold. Had only 2 saves to make

Mertesacker: As Kamerun had no offence, he had next to no work to do. Still he impressed me as he played very routined and didn't gave Eto'o any chance.

Huth: Same as Mertesacker, not that impressive but still good performance

Lahm: Solid as always. I am going into every match with the opinion that a right-footer can't play left-back...and he proves me wrong everytime. ;-)

Schneider: Controlled the right side but wasn't that effective IMHO. (edit: and yes: he was officially lined up as RB but with assistance of Frings he move forward very often)

Ballack: Dominant in midfield and the one to take shots from outside the box. Not brilliant but always a thread to Kamerun's defensive midfield.

Schweinsteiger: Seemed a little bit nervous to me.

Frings: Solid, but not the Frings we know from last season or from Werder Bremen. Backed Schneider on the right side.

Ernst: solid performance, hadn't any brilliant moments, but hey...he's a defensive midfielder.

Kuranyi: Nice match, missed his first big chance but scored later. Very active

Asamoah: Don't know why he was lined up. Alright, he has a nice season so far, but IMHO he hasn't got what it takes to be a regular national team starter

    -----

Klose: As Kamerun's power (and men) faded, it was easier to score. Still impressive to score twice out of the bench.

    Hitzlsperger: Took some corner kicks

Borowski: One nice shot from outside the box

So, as I said...I worked during the match, so please correct me......
