Or should it be Deutschenglischfussballlexicon? Does anyone know of a site with a list of German football words and their English equivalents? Or could they provide such a list here? I know enough German to get around the country, order a beer, and ask for the toilet, but few specialty words. Tor and Spiel are easy, but beyond that it would be great to have a quick list of words. vielen Dank!
Hooligans = People from England Some good translations (mainly the technical terms), some not really useful. You can make this a thread for translations. Post the expressions you want to know and there'll be some who can translate it either way.
Great idea. I've been kicking aruond the idea of proposing to a language school to let me teach a 'Football English' course in Berlin that would end with a trip to an EPL game.
http://www.insults.net/html/swear/german.html some useful translations for german players or fans who are planning a trip to england...
A good start, but it's missing a vital section: injuries. That's the one I have the most problems with translating. And, of course, positons. Seems in English there are about 20 different positions for eleven players--what the heck is a wingback anyway? Just found this thing: http://www.ucs.mun.ca/~dgraham/lotg/glossary.html
