Only said with that vocabulary and his regular accent.

(It's very, very funny trying to convince people who have only read his official site that that's an act and he's actually a bright, polite and well-spoken guy in person).

Wasn't that his first start ever? He looked like that for a while, but he's made a huge adjustment to the international level, and you rarely find him being knocked over that easily anymore. You may still be right about him needing time to settle in, though, and Chris Coleman's said as much about him.

Agree. Clint looked out of place and slow in his 2005 cycle with the MNT. To his credit, by the January camp in 2006 he had adjusted and speeded up his game both physically and mentally. IIRC, he went into last January's camp as one of the team's fittest (at least by the infamous beep) and clearly played at or above the mental pace of the rest of the team. I wouldn't be surprised if he has another rude awakening in the EPL, but I'd be more surprised he he doesn't suck it up and do the work to get up to speed in a hurry.

His main challenge will be the speed of play - i.e., getting and passing the ball to a proper person at the right moment - not the foot speed itself or size of players.

Not sure if Clint is skilled enough at diving yet to shoot for such a comparison.

my prediction is that he somehow figures out how to score his first EPL goal with Brian Mcbride's head

He'll probably come in as a late-game sub, as many folks have said. Fulham will probably need an offensive injection by that point, since Spurs will be up about 3-0. I won't mind if he comes in and teams up with McBride to put one by Robinson. Hell, if we've still only got Lee and Assou-Ekotto back on the left, he might have a pretty good shot at it!

i bet it'll be "bollocks" or something like that on his first live on camera interview.

Spurs will be ahead 2-1. Defoe, Berbatov, Mcbride score and Dempsey comes on in the 70th. Takes a few shots and at the end.....
    A) Rattles a long range shot of the post
    B) Late header
    C) Taken down outside the box
    D) Taken out for a penalty

A few notes for those wanting to buy jerseys:

    A) Fulham club shop is out of the black aways in M and L.
    B) Fulham club shop charges 15 pounds (about 25 bucks) for shipping to USA now... wasn't this much last year.
    C) Yanks Abroad is probably your best bet... I was more hesitant when I saw that the jersey was more expensive... but I ended up dropping 85 on the dempsey customized and some money on a scarf(finally), and the shipping was only 7 bucks... so, take that into account before you decide to splash somewhere... shipping changes all when you check out.

Bingo. He'll be a bit nervous and deal with it by taking on a few 1v1s and put the ball over the net once. :D

After a few weeks he'll calm down, start taking names and kicking tail.

Then we'll see if he can take the grind. I think he'll be up to it.

The best is going to be when he does one of his 'Clint flying into to the box, I don't care if I get my nose broken' headers and score.

And then he stands up like, "Yup, I just did that- you gotta a problem with that?"

That's going to be sweet. I think we will see one this year before not too long :)

As expected, we'll have to wait until next weekend...and even that might be pushing it since he hasn't played in over a month.

can we get a collective asswhooping of Volz to steal #2?

I'm still a little irritated Deuce is #8 for the MNT. I mean, can't he just say...

"i'm deuce yo, battle me for the 2 spot"

That should work with Volz. Battle rap me for the jersey....

He might, so my advice would be not to manufacture too many #23 knock-off's in your basement until we know for sure.

Not always. Since jersey numbers go by seniority/player preference, Demps wears 2 if Heydude isn't in the picture (or isn't supposed to be, which happened in Germany). Dempsey was wearing #2 when he scored against England.
