1) they have never been to a superbowl. 2) despite years of mediocrity and inept play, they are at a franchise low RIGHT now. 3) they were 2-14 last year but they are far worse than that right now. 4) The Lions had 2 legit stars. Barry Sanders simply quit without a 2 week notice. Herman Moore was a victim of poor management (Millen and Morningwhig). Now they have ZERO. 5) The Lions have not been playing rookie quarterback Joey Harrington for the sole reason that they feel a rookie shouldn't be starting. So they have been starting Mike Mcmahon. Mcmahon has played a total of 9 quarters of NFL before this season. Apparently that constitutes being an experienced QB to the Lions management. 6) Millen and Morningwhig (sp) have cut all the decent players, for the sake of change, and replaced them with far worse players. Bill Schroeder is a joke. 7) The Lions will be lucky to win a game this season. 8) despite this, the Lions continually sell out games....they averaged over 70,000 per game last year. They will most likely sell out all home games this season at the new Ford Field. 9) there is no bright light at the end of the tunnel. the lions can't attract big free agents, can only get 1 player at a time during the draft and have no one of any trade value outside of Chris Claiborne. 10) The new management has people wanting Bobby Ross and Wayne Fontes back.
Honest question... who's worse, this year's Lions or the '76 Tampa Bay Buccaneers? I say it's a toss-up.
That's very sad as it probably is the only team from Detroit I really like (and I love their stadium).
Look at the bright side. If the go 0-16 they get a tour stop! But then again, they will probably mess that up by winning one game.
They'll probably pick another quarterback. (Batch/McMahon/Harrington) Or a perpetually injured nearly 400-pound offensive lineman. (Gibson/MacDougal/Backus) Or an inept cornerback. (Fair/Westbrook) And then they'll release him.
You will get your second super bowl pretty soon. Well, the second you host not actually play in one. Let's just hope for no freezing rain this time.
Do you guys even watch the NFL? The lions aren't even the worst team in the league. Sure, they're horrible, don't get me wrong, but the Lions are no Bengals.
well the bengals won more games last year right? so far the Lions defense has had Zero turnovers and Zero sacks and have given up the most points in the NFL in the first 2 weeks (40 points per game- no joke). I dare the bengals to post numbers like that. Detroit's offense is ranked dead last in the NFL and have scored the least amount of points. What do the Bengals got?
Detroit doesn't have the worst offense, but we have the worst TEAM. At least Cincy has been to two SuperBowls and Baltimore has won a couple (Colts / Ravens). It would be the ultimate joy to see the Lions in the Super Bowl in 2006 as the host team. Ok...who am I kidding...there's a better chance that Tonya Harding will win the next Olympic Gold figure skating medal.
Bengals have scored 15 less points than the Lions. The Lions have losses agains the Panthers and the Dolphins. The Bengals have losses against the Chargers and Browns (the mighty Browns with a backup QB, I might add.) The Bengals had a punt last week that netted -2 yards...and the Browns never touched the ball or the punter. It was just a punt that went two yards backwards. The Bengals also have no turnovers.
Hey, I don't hear Jay Leno making jokes about the Bengals every freaking night for the last two years like he does the Lions. Last night he even tied in a joke about syphillis with the Lions. If that isn't pathetic I don't know what is!
It's official. The Bengals rule supreme the land of suck in the NFL. C'mon, Lions suck people, where's your "we suck the most" smack now that you went and won a game? Yeah, that's right. You guys would kick our ass 10 times outta 10 if we gave you the chance. We will always be worse than you in football. It's embarrassing for other clubs when they are that horrible, but here in Cincinnati, we have come to get a little territorial when other teams try to invade our comfortable resting place that we own at the bottom of the league. We shall never see a winning team here as long as Mike Brown is the Owner/CEO/General Manager of this terrible team.
Hey, if somebody told you the Bengals would have the same record as the Rams four games in, you'd have taken it, right?
Blame it on Joey Harrington. He hasn't been in town long enough to know he's supposed to break the heart of Lions fans. Seriously, I think we finally have a winner in town at QB...the first time in my life! Harrington has the look of a future Super Bowl QB. The guy was phenomenal in only his second game. Let's hope the Fords don't find a way to blow his talent.
