Dest starts for Ajax v. APOEL in the Champions League playoff round, 2nd leg. Coverage in the United States is on TNT and TUDN at 3 PM Eastern. The tie is 0-0 after the first leg. The away goals rule applies after both regulation and extra time, so any loss or score draw eliminates Ajax - they need to win today outright or advance on penalties after a 0-0 match. Great to see that our intense lobbying campaign paid dividends, though Dest's quality play and other circumstances probably contributed as well.
Dest nearly just powered his way into an assist, but was called for a foul as he worked his way around the APOEL defender. He seems to be holding his own. Bit of an odd game overall so far though.
might be guilty of willing what i want to see into being, but after some positive crosses it does seem like teammates are looking for dest more and giving him opportunities in some space
stellar so far by Dest, but Ajax are still majorly sweating this one with nothing to show for it as a team
dest runs on to a ball about to go out and deftly first touch lofts it back to neres whose first touch squanders what couldve been a dangerous opportunity
This set of playoff matches have been dire. 9 halves of football and 2 goals to show for it. Edit: jinx
he is begging the center backs to break one line of defenders and find him in space....and tadic just blows a sitter on a beauty of a cross from our boy oops on second thought not him
Dest won that foul which resulted in the goal. He did it by taking on a paid of defenders and coming this close to getting by them, as they fouled him. And actually he got off a successful pass.
