Pepi the worst player on the pitch so far in the first 20 minutes. (Yes I have a bet that includes PSV needing to win)
oh, so we're not doing the "all CL matches in one PBP thread"? Oh well. I will say that while Dest is doing a good job of beating players 1v1 off the dribble, that USG has found a lot of room and success going forward down his side of the pitch.
and it's 2-0, very wasteful, poor, no midfield, no service. Pepi once again loses the ball and they hit on the counter.
It was never gonna get called back by the VAR team, but that was a heavy physical challenge on Pepi. Still, he's gotta do better to get rid of that under pressure.
Perisic is now 0/9 on attempted crosses. Make no mistake, Pepi has been bad, but it's a real team effort tonight. No one out there in a red and white kit is looking good. It's lots of little things, like short give-and-go passes being played way behind their target and poor first touches on the ball.
To be fair, he did receive the ball in dangerous positions, but couldn't do anything with those chances.
That was a clear foul IMO. He went completely thru Pepi's left foot and got a faint touch on the ball. His foot was even planted... it was like a Miagi foot sweep. And the D afterwards was not at all helpful. A bit of a nightmare of a half for Pepi and PSV.
Dest starts the 2nd half with a terrible give-away which almost resulted in an early goal, thankfully the keeper was ready
Pepi and Dest both pretty poor in the first half. Worst player on the pitch was Perisic, though. Entire team was extremely poor, wasteful, and sloppy.
First shot on goal for PSV. Through ball played into Pepi, but the shot angle was pretty acute and keeper saves the near post attempt for a corner. And the corner was shite.
Finally PSV find Pepi with a through ball down USG's gut. Pepi gets his shot off and earn a corner, but arguably should've passed to Van Brommel who was bearing down on the other side edit: on the replays, it looked like Pepi was at full stretch and would've struggled to get a decent pass to Van Brommel.
That's what the announcer suggested, but I disagree. The defender's positioning was such that the cut back would have been likely blocked.
PSV are finally waking up, but despite an extremely well-worked possession, Saibari missed an open net
Dest with a good ball to Til, who plays it across to Saibarri at the far post. And he has an egregious miss on the open net...
