Anybody else noticed that the Mania tongue has been modelled after the tongues seen on Beckham's boots, and that they were designed so you could embroider (put writing on it). There's a huge amount of space between the adidas logo and the top of the tongue. Not to mention that the logo on the underside of the tongue is not in the way if the tongue is embroidered... anybody here have embroidered boots?
This feature is popular in the UK with places like Pro Direct Soccer as an added feature and I am sure sooner than later Eurosport will pick up on this trend as well I think it is like an extra $30 from the UK web sites and takes an extra week or so to get it done. If you are living in the US and want it done on your manias I would say go to a monogram shop and they could do it for a a small fee. Becks is also not the only one with this done to his boots most big name contracted adidas players have this done like Raul and Zidane as well as Cisse of France and Viera on his Supernova 2's Pretty soon adidas will be offering the MI Adidas feature here in the US for soccer boots which is very similar to Nike Id with custom colors and name placement on the shoe except you get the last molded to the exact shape of your foot by walking through a footstrike reader and it takes everything from foot shape to your gait in to account. As of right now though you can only get the Mania throught MI adidas in Europe I would guess if you wanted an all leather boot you could have the Predator zone made from leather much like many pros do (Raul, J.Zannatti) so it appers they have the rubber when they really don't.

remember when Beckham first wore the Predator Accelerators, he had a modified tongue and even with the Precisions??? It seems that now adidas has introduced this to the mass market. so for the adidas MI's service, I assume you'd have to go and visit the factory?
In Europe they have a sessions set up in large store and tournment for a few days at a time where they do the readings on your feet then you talk to an adidas footwear rep and they take in to account things like how tight you like your boot and where you need more support then you select your outsole, color options, and name placement then it takes about 3 weeks to get the boots to you. Adidas debuted this in the US at the Boston Marathon for running shoes I am sure soccer and basketball will follow suit, they need something exciting for the mass market here now that they lost out on LaBron and his marketing potential
Yeh I've always questioned why Becks bothered having the predator islands when his tongue covers virtually all of the available rubber, maybe Adidas should put some rubber on his tongue haha. Hey Jc18star where did u find out that Raul and Zanetti have leather in place of the rubber? That should be proof that the preds are simply gimmicks. I recently sold my manias to a mate, thu when I had them I actually cut the tongue as I saw Del Piero do and found my kicking to be better without the hefty tongue in the way. Maybe not coz of the predator isalands but maybe due to a cleaner kicking surface. Other players in my league have also done the same.
I've seen pics of players that have "predator" boots without the vamp. Any pics of Del Piero with the cut tongue? I always thought that the tongue would provide a cleaner surface???

The World Soccer Issue a few months back has a pic and profile of Raul as it does a few other strikers and if you look at his boot you can see its just a white leather strip where the islands are on the shoe there is also a pic of Zannati in eitehr the same issue or the month before or after where you can see the same thing. There is also a really old poster of Paul Ince when he was playing for Man U or Liverpool and the Pretador Touch's were on the market( they were the first ones with the red tounge and also the first ones with a Traxion bottom and the first to be offered in more than just black) and where the black vamp should be it is just black leather with stiching lines in there to look like Preds from a distance. I had bought the white version of this shoe back in late 96 early 97 and had a family friend who was a cop radar my shot speed with the Preds and whit plain Copa's and the preds slowed down the shot every time 20 times each with both feet. Take from that what you will, also the Islands where at that time huge and left no feeling between my foot and the ball so that may have been a factor. I just gave away my Red Mania's to one of my coach's who I also play on quite an few teams with and help with personal training but for the few times I wore them I removed the elsatic strap and folded the tounge inward and I got a much better fit and strike on the ball that way.
