Can anyone give me info about the construction of the Des Moines Impact's Stadium??? when is the groundbreaking???? thanks in advance
They still haven't decided on the site for the stadium, here's the latest articles from the Des Moines Register: http://desmoinesregister.com/sports/menace/index.html
Newest article in the Des Moines Register, 1/9/03, states they will stick with their original location, Urbandale, IA. Groundbreaking this year with ready date of May 1, 2005. 6,000 seat capacity soccer specific stadium!
I found the link to the articl, it's below. http://desmoinesregister.com/sports/stories/c6902891/20181834.html
In a previous Des Moines Register article (8/22/02) it was projected as 2004: "Des Moines Menace majority owner Kyle Krause said Wednesday that the opening of a proposed $24.5 million soccer-specific stadium in Urbandale has been pushed back at least one year, to 2004" I'm hoping the 2005 was a typo, I'm not too fond of the high school field they play on, it's made for helmetball and has a track around it. Plus we have to go to the church across the street and drink beer in their parking lot since it's school property! No coach listed on the web-site yet: http://www.menacesoccer.com/ Neathan Gibson, the past & current assistant coach is a nice, personable guy. I've had the pleasure of playing against him in the local Des Moines Men's League and in talking with him after the games. I wouldn't be disappointed if he got the head coaching position...
Re: Des Moines is a Union Town?? With the way things have moved slowly, thanks to money issues, hopefully, this is a just-in-case window. Hoover High School is decent, for a PDL team. But the track and no beer does suck. :/ Oh well, as long as their is soccer and they can draw the good crowds I won't complain
