DeRo scored the opening goal in a Canadian loss 3-1 at Scotland. He was brought down in the box after going by 3 Scottish defenders and very calmy slotted the ball home on the ensuing spot kick.

Dwayne was extremely impressive all game (he played the full 90), and really could have had another 2 goals if not for two nice saves by the keeper.

It seems that every time DD plays for the Canadian nat'l team, he puts out a great effort. I wonder why he doesn't do this consistently for the Quakes.

He's also sporting a new look (I'm not sure if people in San Jose have already seen this new look):

That was a good one Bill.

In the pre-ITV collapse days, we'd probably hear a flood of rumors about DeRo signing with some Scottish or English (Div 1) club.

Since DeRo is Canadian, do they have the same work permit requirements that US soccer players do (which I think is 75% of recent Nats games) or would it be easier for him to sign with some club that needs help scoring?

    Go Quakes

    Where did you get that?
He was in the box for a free kick,it wasnt cleared and fell to him, then Russell Anderson nudged him and he went to ground like a sack of spuds.

I got that from the match on TV.

He was surrounded by 3 Scots, who were pulling and prodding him from all sides as he tried to get around them. Right before he was pushed (a two-hander, no less) to the ground, it appeared that he was about to strike the ball.

You cant beat defenders when the ball falls to you.
    Interesting game nonetheless.

I've seen the Scotts play, when they nudge you, you go to the ground.

The ball didn't fall to him, he carried it a few yards into the box.

Either way, it was an interesting game, which I honestly think could have gone either way.

Scotland only really dominated play at the end of the match, whereas I fell Canada was dominant at the end of the first half.

All in all though, I believe the better team on the day got the result, even if both teams were laregly reserve players.

Congrats to DeRo, who will always be Rasta Cannuck--even if he shaves his head. :)

I watched it again a few times and it doesnt even look like he did that, maybe he took a crap first touch and knocked it forward a bit, but he was going nowhere with the likes of Anderson,Pressley and Wilkie on all sides.
If he had been a bit smarter he would have just tried to take it first time like the boy Thompson did with his.
    Still he got the penalty.
Scotland had most of the game, the penalty was the first thing I remember them doing in our half, we equalised right away, squandered a few more chances, then for about half an hour canada dominated, we missed a good chance just before the half time whistle and from then on it was all our pressure.
I agree though the better team won ;)

My earlier post was a joke. DeRosario is in the picture that is posted earlier in the thread. You figure out which one he is. Hint: Scotland's flag is blue and white, while Canada's flag is red and white.

Yeah, I did a double take too.

TopDogg, thanks for posting the picture -- we had not seen his new look as he still had the long hair the last time we saw him play (September 28 in the playoff game in Columbus).

    Way to go DeRo!
The new look is very official, i see him scoring right and left without that extra 50 pounds on the back of his head.

Oh, my God. I hope I am not responsible for this. At the Shake with the Quakes I told Dwayne that he should go back to his pony tail, rather than that Dairy Queen upsweep, because he had better luck that way. He told me that with the ponytail opposing players would grab his hair. I asked him why not a close cut? Then they couldn't grab it. He said that that was just not his personality. Maybe he'll have better luck this way.

Another opition is: to apply gel to the ponytail in so disgusting way that opposing players will freak out, trying to grab it :)

At least from those pictures, Pablo and Pwamme look a lot alike. I think you're right Lindsey, this is some kind of an end of an era.
