Hello, i was wondering if someone could tell me which places in the danish league qualify for europe, and in each case, which competition it is for, either champions league, uefa cup or inter-toto cup. thanks for the help
This is how the Danish teams in theory would qualify for the different European tournaments next season : 1. Champions League 2nd-Q round + Royal League 2. UEFA Cup Qualification + Royal League 3. Inter-Toto Cup + Royal League 4. Inter-Toto Cup + Royal League ----- However, ther is also one UEFA cup spot for the Danish Cup winner (+ perhaps one UEFA Cup "Fair Play" spot) and since it is very likely that either OB, Brøndby or FC Copenhagen will win the Cup final and AaB have decided not to participate in the Toto Cup, this is more likely how the teams will qualify, looking at the "fair Play" and Superliga standings below : 1. Champions League 2nd-Q round + Royal League 2. UEFA Cup Qualification + Royal League 3. (UEFA Cup Q) + Royal League 4. Inter-Toto Cup (or UEFA Cup "fair Play") + Royal League 5. 6. Inter-Toto Cup 7. (Inter-Toto Cup in case of UEFA Cup "fair Play") ------- Danish Fair Play standings... Esbjerg...... 8,036 FC København. 7,845 Brøndby...... 7,714 Danish Superliga 2003-2004 standings (24 of 33 games): 1.Esbjerg.................. 24...53-26......51 2.Brøndby................. 24...39-21..... 50 3.FC København......... 24...37-19......48 4.OB Odense............. 24...52-32......47 5.AaB Ålborg .............24...35-31......37 6.FC Midtjylland......... 24...43-38......30 7.Viborg....................24...33-32......29 8.AGF Aarhus.............24...34-48......27 9.Herfølge.................24...24-33.......26 10.FC Nordsjælland......24...26-42......23 ---------------------------------------- 11.Frem................... 24...25-45......18 12.AB København....... 24...19-53......14 The UEFA Fair Play rankings top 10 at the moment : ................. Ceres , thankyou for your help so far, it has been magnificant, but can i ask for your assistance once more. My club look set to clinch the inter-toto cup place for the Northern Ireland representative this week, and thus would place the second qualified team from Denmark, which by my reckoning should be either Viborg or FC Midtjylland, with Aarhus and outside possibility? Therefore, it would be helpful if you could inform me if these clubs are able to play euro matches at their home ground - i know FC Midtjylland were not able to a couple of years ago, has this changed?, and also the location of FC Midtjylland from a major city - i assume Silkeborg would be the closest? Our supporters are looking to base ourselves in Aarhus whichever of these sides we meet. Any info on the easiest ways to get to grounds on matchday would also be most helpful. And last thing - would the danish leg of the game likely to be played on the saturday or sunday? Thanks again for any help you can provide - all information is most welcome and gratefully recieved. cheers, Johnny
As it looks right now, ther is not much chance that AGF will get the 2nd Inter-toto cup place.... so you will most likely have to face either Viborg at Viborg Stadion, with a capacity of 9,796 (all seats)....or FC Midtjylland who just got their new build stadium a few weeks ago in Herning ... Herning Stadion, with a capacity of 12,500 (7,500 seats).... Viborg is a city with a population of about 43,000 ...and Herning with about 59,000 ppl...( about the same size as Silkeborg with about 53,000 ppl ) .... If you by some miracle will have to face AGF, then Aarhus have a population of about 300,000 and a stadium (the "Atletion") with a capacity of 20,200 (all seats).... I have no clue when the games is likely to be played, and neither, I'm sure, have the clubs at this point... .
OK, so AaB will play Copenhagen in the Cup final. Now tell me this, if Copenhagen win the cup final, AND finish in the top two of the league, does the league get the extra place, or the runner-up in the cup? the current table looks as follows with five games left: ------------------------------ 1 EfB 28 - 59 2 København 28 - 58 3 Brøndby 28 - 57 4 OB 28 - 48 5 AaB 28 - 46 6 Midtjylland 28 - 39 7 Viborg 28 - 38 ------------------------------ Now, would i be right in saying the following.(assuming no UEFA fair-play place is forthcoming and the league finishes as-is) 1) If Copenhagen win the cup, then OB and Midtjylland would qualify for the inter-toto. 2) If AaB win the cup, then Brondby and OB would qualify for the inter-toto
If FC Copenhagen win the cup final, AND become Champions, then AaB will get the Uefa cup spot instead of the Cup winner, since it's impossible to play both Champions league and UEFA Cup ... 1) Yes 2) Yes
In which case 3rd and 4th would take the inter-toto, which going by the above table would be Brondy and OB?
Danish Superliga 2003/04 standings (31 of 33 games): Code: Club G W D L Gf-Ga P 1 FC København 31 19 7 5 51-24 64 2 Brøndby 31 18 7 6 50-27 61 3 Esbjerg 31 17 8 6 64-39 59 4 OB Odense 31 15 8 8 60-44 53 5 AaB Ålborg 31 15 8 8 51-39 53 6 FC Midtjyland 31 13 6 12 62-47 45 7 Viborg 31 10 8 13 43-42 38 8 AGF Aarhus 31 11 3 17 44-62 36 9 FC Nordsjælland 31 7 10 14 32-54 31 10 Herfølge 31 8 6 17 33-52 30 ----------------------------------------- 11 Frem 31 8 3 20 36-56 27 12 AB København 31 7 2 22 27-67 23 Last two games : FC København - AaB Ålborg FC Nordsjælland - FC København Frem - Brøndby Brøndby IF - AB København FC Midtjylland - Esbjerg Esbjerg - Frem Viborg - OB Odense OB Odense - Herfølge AaB Ålborg - FC Midtjylland It looks like FC København is going to win the Championship, then AaB will get the UEFA Cup spot as "Cup winner" and Brøndby look like they are going to get the last UEFA cup spot so (unless Denmark get one of the fairplay spots) it seems that Esbjerg will get the 1st inter-toto place and OB Odense the 2nd inter-toto place... The updated fairplay list from UEFA will be revealed on May 31...
Danish Cup Final (May 20. - 2004): AaB Ålborg - FC København 0-1 (0-1) 0-1: Morten Bisgaard (29.) Red card: Peter Møller,FCK (67.) Attendance: 38,095 Yellow cards : Peter Christiansen,FCK (20.) ... Bo Svensson,FCK (22.) ... Thomas Augustinussen,AaB (28.) ... Allan Gaarde,AaB (86.) ... Hjalte Nørregaard,FCK (87.) It was AaB having ball possession the first 20 minutes or so, putting pressure on FCK, but without looking that dangerous infront of goal, and little by little FCK took full control of the match and in the 29th minute Morten Bisgaard scored an excellent goal (see link). FCK probably should have scored at least 2 more goals in the 1st half, if they hadnt been robbed twice by the referee not getting two penalty kicks. Surely the referee didnt have one of his best days, he should have shown both the FCK player Bo Svensson the red card after 22 minutes and in the 2nd half also the AaB player Allan Gaarde... The referee also had several strange calls throughout, so he was surely one of the reasons that it was more of fight and not that well played a match. However, FCK looked a bit tired in the 2nd half, probably because of the many very important games they have played lately, so again AaB took control, and like in the match vs. Esbjerg, FCK got a red card and then had to use all their strenght defending, but though it was AaB having all the play and ball possession, putting pressure on FCK, and at some point even playing with 6 forwards in a 2-2-6 system, they didnt manage to create that many real opportunities vs. an excellent defending FCK team, so in the end it was a deserved, but also expencive win for FCK, since both Peter Møller and Hjalte Nørregaard will be out for the next Superliga match because of the red and yellow card...and also Santos may be out with an injury... In my (and TV3's ) eyes, Morten Bisgaard was the best player and surely "man of the match", scoring the winning goal ..(Download : 10.1 mb , 1½ minutes) http://www.f7.dk/fck/bisgaard_scoring_aab_fck_dong_cup_finale.avi Congrats to FC København For AaB it was a very bitter defeat. It was AaB's 5 defeat in 7 Cup finals, and if they manage to get revenge by beating FCK in the next Superliga match they risk that FCK dont win the Championship, and then AaB will not get the UEFA Cup spot for losing the Cup final, on the other hand, if they dont beat FCK in the next game, then AaB will probably not be able to get the 4th spot they need to qualify for the Scandinavian Royal League...so it's a kind of lose-lose situation... .
The UEFA Cup fair-play draw was made yersterday and Denmark didnt get an extra UEFA Cup place, so the to teams playing intertoto is Esbjerg and OB odense.....
